If you caught my post a few days ago.. you know I have been using the Noom app. It’s been going pretty well. It’s pretty easy to follow and keeps me in the boundaries of the amount of calories that I can have. I shared a post with some fun Amazon finds to keep me on track…. Which lead me to research for low calorie snack ideas. And, my searches kept turning up air-popped popcorn. I ordered an air popper from Amazon. And, let me tell you… I was SOOOO EXCITED when it came. Deb said, “Are you old? I think my parents probably have one of those in their basement.” ???? There are so few calories in air-popped popcorn so that is what appealed to me at first. Secondly, there are so many ways to dress up air-popped popcorn with spray butter, different seasonings, salt, etc. Which doesn’t add many calories to the mix.
I have used my air popper SO MANY times. Deb even asked me to make her some the other night and she thoroughly enjoyed it. It is so easy, with such an easy clean up, and is so convenient as it takes only a few minutes to make. Also.. you may not know this. We don’t have a microwave, but there are air poppers for the microwave if you prefer to make it that way.
I’m not kidding. I LOVE my air popper. I have made popcorn every single day since it has arrived. I have eaten popcorn as a snack and even during a meal. When Deb is crunching on potato chips with her sandwich, I pop some popcorn and it’s so many less calories. I usually spray on some butter and add a little salt and it tastes just like REALLY high-calorie popcorn.
OH… and Deb was dying the other day. I started the popping process. I told her that Ivy will wake up out of a dead sleep when she hears it… because inevitably, popcorn will fall on the floor. And, that she has a job to do as my clean-up crew. She didn’t believe me until she saw it with her own two eyes. Ivy woke up from a deep slumber as soon as the popcorn started popping…. walked out to the kitchen and reported for work. ???? It really is hilarious to see.
There are so many different fun things I found for making healthy popcorn, including different seasonings and movie theater butter salt. I figured I would share it with you over here just in case you wanted a healthier version of popcorn for family movie night.
I even found these cute little containers if you want to make if fun for the kids or grandkids.
I hope this gives you some own ideas for a low calories snake for movie night at your house.
