You guys know what my favorite colors are to decorate our home are. If not, let me refresh your memory: White, Cream, Beige, Green, and Gold. That’s it! ???? I’m a fan of all neutrals. So, when the holidays roll around and bright orange-colored pumpkins and bright red Christmas ornaments start popping out, I cringe. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE seeing lots of color in other people’s homes. I just cannot live with it. My mind goes into a state of crazy that no one wants to deal with. ????
I have an entire closet full of Fall decor. Even though all of the orange pumpkins have been painted white, the closet had a few sprigs of Fall colored branchy things that I picked up several years back. I decided to haul it all downstairs to see if it would be too much for my crazy mind. Well……….. SHOCKINGLY, I LOVED it! Therefore, all of the little branchy things got shoved everywhere and I love the warmth it gave to my space. All of you color loving people are probably laughing at me, but hey, it’s a step. ????????????????????????????????????????????????
It looks like Fall took a dump all over the house and I actually love it. I tucked pumpkins in every possible space I could. ???? I can’t believe that I used the Fall colored branches because that just isn’t like me.
I mixed my artificial ones with fresh branches that I grabbed at the compost site. These have green and gold leaves and thought they looked so pretty. I ended up spraying them with a coat of clear gloss spray paint to preserve the leaves and give them a little shine. It actually gave them a lot more depth than they had before. AND, it made the colors of the leaves a little darker.
I had to display my favorite little electric jack-o-lantern in the dining room that must be going on 125 years old. My girls were young when I bought it. I did chalk paint her white, of course. She has a crack in her face and looks like she has been run through the ringer, but let’s face it. She has. ???? She has moved approximately six times and spent several months in a storage facility. She deserves a place in my house every year. Little miss jack-o-lantern brings back lots of memories so she stays with me.
I moved a few things around furniture-wise. Did you notice? The entire house was in a state of chaos for about a week. ???? Deb HATES that. But, I told her that this will get her in the mood for Christmas decorating, which is actually a way bigger job than Fall decor. So in a sense, I was preparing her.
Thanks so much for stopping by the blog. I hope you got inspired just a wee bit. Do you poop your house up for Fall or just skip into the Christmas decor? I’d love to hear from you either in the comments below or over on Facebook and Instagram. We have loads of fun over there!
