Deb and I have been on a watermelon kick, and I recently posted a video of a watermelon I purchased that just wasn’t very good. Holy moly, I got so many responses from you guys about how to find the perfect watermelon. I had no clue there were so many watermelon specialists out there! Ha! This got me to thinking about how I’ve spent all these years so uninformed on all the best watermelon tips and tricks! I feel like this information should be common knowledge, but I had no clue.
So, for this week’s in-feed post, I am going full watermelon mode! I even found watermelon dog treat recipe! Check out some of the great accounts I found on both Pinterest and Instagram that include watermelon-related information.

I loved this account because it shows the progress of her plants from small cuttings to full plants.
Umm… what?! How perfectly delicious does this watermelon cake look! Boards by Dana creates charcuterie and cheeseboards that are basically pieces of art. Check out this video of the entire process. She usually uses one large watermelon or two smaller ones to create one of these cakes. This would definitely be the star dish at your next family gathering if you have a creative touch.

London from Evolving Table gives us all the tips and tricks as well as four key features to look for when attempting to pick the sweetest-tasting watermelon. She goes into much more detail, but from her post I learned to look for a watermelon that is symmetrically round, heavy, has a yellow spot, and has a hallow deep sound when you knock on it. Her post also discusses what to look for with its stripes, webbing, stem, and all-over color. She also mentioned that watermelons only ripen on the vine, so don’t pick one up at the grocery store and expect it to keep ripening at home.
