We just moved into our new home last December. So it’s been a bit over six months ago. My sister and brother-in-law have been here a few times and spent time in our guest room. And, most recently, Deb’s brother and sister-in-law stayed one night while they attended a family gathering on her side. And, honestly, I have been so busy with other things that I haven’t made our guest room cozy. It gives me a bit of anxiety when I hear someone wants to stay just because it is not homey at all. Well, I grabbed a few items to make our next guests feel a little more comfortable. So…. let’s cozy up our guest room.
All of the items that I am sharing today were found at The Home Depot. I was looking for great quality items that were at great price points. And The Home Depot had it all. And, since they are having a huge sale, it worked out perfectly for my budget. The Home Depot has such a great assortment of home decor, bedding, rugs, etc. I find the best items there, as you can see. They also provide a number of services, including home improvement installation services and tool and equipment rental. The Home Depot is where decorators get more done!
Also.. The Home Depot’s home decor line is sold online only, so it ships directly to your door. You know how much I love that! Shop the Red, White, and Blue Event now through 7/12 for up to 40% off select Furniture, Mattresses, and Kitchenware!
I wanted this guest room to not only be cozy, but I want our guests to feel at home. So I had to start with the basics. All of the bedding that I have on hand in a king size. But, this bed is a queen size. So this is what I grabbed.
We have a gel infused memory foam mattress pad on our bed and can’t live without it. It takes the comfort level of any mattress up two notches. Grab this if you have a bed that is uncomfortable. By the way, I prefer the 2″ foam rather than anything thicker. The thicker it is, the higher you have to sit up to roll over.
I know some of you may not like bed skirts but I love them. The crocheted ruffled bedskirt is just my style and the price is perfect.
When I saw these sheets, I immediately knew these would be perfect for the guest room. Not only do they add a lot of interest with the pattern, but they match my neutral color scheme. They do come in several different colors as well.
This was another one of those things that the moment I saw this quilt set, I knew. I just knew that they would look so pretty in here. This set is reversible to give you different looks and it is also pre-washed so it’s extra soft.
A full length mirror is a must in any bedroom and this one is perfect for my space. You can set this on your floor or also hang it. And, it is shatterproof which makes me happy knowing that.
I wanted to add some texture to these walls to make this space a little more interesting. One way to do that is with paintable textured wallpaper. This is perfect for over imperfect or paneled walls. We have used this style of paper a lot in the past so I knew it would work perfect in here.
Baskets are a must in a guest room. They hold extra bedding, pillows, etc. And, guests can use them for anything they may need as well. I love these white ones as they add a lot of needed texture.
One of the ways to cozy up a guest room is with throw pillows. These are some of my favorite throw pillows that I have. The crocheted sides add such great texture. These are so soft and make a great statement.
Add one accent pillow to a bunch of neutral pillows and it makes a big statement. I love this one as it adds a bit of black to the space which also matches the mirror.
I am actually so excited to get this done and for the next guest to arrive and enjoy the guest room. I told the last ones that I know they would give their room a one star, but I promise to make it at least a 3 start the next time. Ha!
