I haven’t even mentioned to you about my pantry organization and refresh. Half of the time when you guys saw my pantry on social media, you mentioned how organized it was. But, really it wasn’t. I don’t like to see a bunch of different boxes and bags sitting around. Let’s face it, I like all of my spaces to be pretty…. including the inside of my pantry. Now I want to be honest. Everything is NOT pretty ALL of the time. But, I do my best to make certain there is a POSSIBILITY of prettiness …. most of the time.
When we originally started our remodel of this house, I knew I wanted to wallpaper the back wall of the pantry since I have a glass door. I literally picked the lease expensive wallpaper I could find and went with it. I loved it! I loved it until I saw my Milton and King wallpaper that I just used in the master bedroom. The brick pattern looks so real. I wasn’t planning at all to re-paper the pantry until I realized I had enough leftover from the bedroom to swing it.
My entire pantry has always been organized as far as everything together… all of my canned “like” items were in one spot, etc. But, I never had containers to wrangle up the not-so-pretty items. And, also, I have several of the same items since I buy in bulk. I don’t want to go through the misery of grocery shopping any more than I have to. If we open the last bottle of mustard in the pantry, I buy two.
Since our entire house is basically white and wood color.. with a little green thrown in, I thought baskets would be the best look for me. It would match the rest of our house and give a natural texture to the space.
I decided to go with crate type baskets with handles. I used the large ones for the floor of my pantry where I keep my potatoes and onions in one of them. My stock of extra baggies and paper towels in another one. And my extra stash of white vinegar. (Don’t even ask…..????) I went with smaller baskets of the same style to hold condiments, snacks, and other items that aren’t really too good-looking. And I found these large divider baskets to hold packets of different items. I highly recommend these heavy duty expandable shelf organizers. It doubles your pantry storage for canned items.
I just KNEW I wanted a chandelier in my pantry. No one write me and say it’s against code. Because I know it is. Code Schmode. They don’t want you to have open lighting in your pantry because it could be a potential fire hazard if you leave the light on and something is touching the bulb. BUT, I am always careful. And, if we ever sell, we will have to correct that. But with us living here, we enjoy it as is.
I know some of you are thinking, “Listen lady, I barely have any time to shower, let alone organize my pantry.” But that’s OK. This is something I love to do.
