If you’ve been following me for long, you know I have a few vintage collections.  ???? Ok, maybe more than a few.  But I just can’t help myself.  Vintage goodies are a few of my favorite things to collect and I never tire of them.  If I run out of room displayed in my decor, I usually store them for awhile, aka throw them in the guest room, so that I can use them again some time.

I incorporate vintage pieces into EVERY look, no matter if it’s every day decor, or decorating for the seasons.  I thought it would be fun to show you how I incorporate vintage pieces into my Winter decor.

Decorating for Christmas with Vintage Pieces

I have seen so many different ideas using vintage pieces as Christmas tree stands:  galvanized wash tubs, old crocks, vintage baskets.  I have two of these cute 6′ flocked trees in one room so I scoured the house for two matching bases.  These crocks worked perfectly and were just the right size.  Deb had to create a little block to hold them in because the plastic stand didn’t fit down inside.  But that’s OK.  I added some Poly-fil (pillow stuffing) to the top to look like fake snow.  I’m obsessed with fake snow and snowballs.  ????  I shared some that I made a few years over on Instagram and people loved them.

Oh… and if you don’t have a “Deb” to make you the little block to hold your tree… here are a few new options that I found.   I was shocked at how “vintagy” these looked.

Speaking of Snowballs…

As I stated above, I made some fake snowballs from my “I NEED TO MAKE” Pinterest board a few years ago. Since then, companies have come out with so many different options and they are actually less expensive to buy rather than make your own.  I have my eye on these.  They look adorable in old vintage crocks or bowls or in your Winter tablescapes.  My favorite thing to do as of recent is to sprinkle a little fake snow around the display.

And, speaking of Pinterest.  I need to update everything over there, but check out my board, Projects for Deb.   She particularly loves that board.  ????  I believe her last comment on this subject was, “I have enough of my own projects floating around in my head.  I don’t need the ones on your Pinterest boards yet.”

Creating a Forest with Trees

If I can’t live in the mountains of Tennesse (right now ????) I will create myself a forest inside my house for Winter.  This idea arose when I realized I really don’t want the chaos of ornaments.  I only want a million green and flocked trees.  I want it to look natural like you would see outside.  So, I started plopping little trees everywhere.  (I want a million of these….)   And using lots of different things to plop them in.  If the container isn’t big enough to hold the little bases that the trees come in, most of them can be removed.  I used old spools, stoneware crocks, and chippy white porch posts for some of mine this year.  And, I love it.  It all looks unique.

Natural Elements

Another theme I have going on this year is natural elements such as pinecones, acorns, and fruit.  I love filling old bowls with natural things you would normally find outside.  Vintage baskets and old crockery bowls filled with fruit look really festive in your decor.  I especially love pears because of their warm color they bring to my space.

I recently bought 5 bags of fake acorns.  Deb said, “Do we really need THIS MANY acorns?”  “YES, DEB… YES we do……”  I knew I wanted a GIANT BOWL OF NUTS ???? for my holiday decor. (Does everyone laugh when they say the words nuts and balls or just me?)  I think it looks so cozy.   You could actually use real fruit and real acorns BUT, fake ones are perfect for me.  I just store them in bags (another word I laugh at because I’m 12) with the rest of my Christmas stuff!

Collection of Trees in Old Boxes

I have several little wooden boxes with little dividers.  Some of them I believe were old toolboxes.  Nevertheless, I’m obsessed with those, too.  ????  They make the cutest little holder for all the trees.  I have a collection of old celluloid mirrors in one and I figured each divider needed its own little tree.  A large toolbox down the middle of a farmhouse table would be adorable.  You could simply fill it with greenery and snowballs and use it as your centerpiece at your holiday meals.

Christmas Trees on Old Candlesticks

This is another one of my absolute favorite things to do.  I love to display trees, in place of candles, on candlesticks.  It’s just a fun way to bring height in your displays.  They would look perfect on a mantel or large shelf with a few other trees in front of them.  Last year I decorated a table on my landing with several different heights of brass candlesticks and ended up adding a small tree to each one.  I loved it.
