Hey everyone! If you are like me, you spend a lot of time aimlessly scouring social media with absolutely nothing in particular in mind. I did this a little bit in the past, but I want to start sharing some of my favorite accounts from Instagram that I discover in my search! This week, with our new chickens as inspiration, I am focusing on Instagram accounts that…well… have chickens!
Yes, these are the chickens of Instagram! The accounts focus on types of chickens, types of eggs, how to raise chickens, how to keep chickens healthy, pictures of chickens, and the list goes on! I am drawn in by particular photos but then find myself soaking up all of the knowledge offered by these chicken connoisseurs.
Hopefully, we can share thoughts on some great content as well as share the work and ideas of some awesome people out there that you wouldn’t have otherwise come across. With that being said, here are some accounts that caught my eye this week!
Jacob and his husband have an absolutely beautiful backyard/urban homestead in Northeast Texas. They raise chickens that lay a variety of fun-colored eggs, and all of their chickens are their family pets. As you can see from the photos, their coop is beautiful and so are their eggs! Be sure to check out our_backyard.farmstead.
The Pioneer Chicks focuses a little less on the eggs and more on the chicks, so if you enjoy pictures of baby chicks, this account is for you! In addition to sharing stories of raising chickens, they focus on simple living, clean eating, and homesteading. I will say that their recipes look absolutely amazing! If you follow their Instagram page on over to their blog, they have awesome tips for raising chicks from incubation to basic care.
This page takes us on all the adventures of Wilma and her gang. You get a little comedy, a whole bunch of good lookin’ chickens, and some great education on how to take care of your backyard chickens and keeping them healthy. Mel, the creator of this page, actually runs a podcast that gives you all of the chicken information you could ever need!
This is just a simple and happy page about two chickens, Mimi and Flossie, chilling in the garden. The best part about this page is that you know what you are getting. It is really just that- pictures of two fluffy, adorable chickens. And for that, I give it two thumbs up! Plus, a chicken named Flossie… I mean, come on!! I love it!
Umm, what! Did you see this chicken coop?! It is so beautiful. Tony and Melissa live in New Hampshire and give you an inside look at their Pine Ridge Hens. Their images are just beautiful so they may be one of my favorites for that fact alone.
The Farm Clarendon is relatively new and was established in 2020. Their photos melt my heart because in addition to have chickens, they also have fluffy highland cattle, baby goats, and a dog to rule over all of them!
Following these families and their feathery friends has brought me simple joy, and I hope the same for you. I don’t know why, but all these chicken, eggs, and farm pictures feel so pure and relaxing to me. I think I could just browse pictures of different colored eggs all day.
Deb and I can’t wait for our hens to start laying more so that we can share our egg pictures with you! Have a beautiful day!
