With this rental house being so small, I get tired of the same-old same-old as far as decor. I decided to liven things up a bit over the next several months until we get into our new house. I figured I would get a few new home decor pieces here and there, and maybe walk into our new house looking fresh. So, I started with a few new rugs for here in the living room. These rugs are from Boutique Rugs and I FREAKING LOVE THEM!
My old rugs had warm tones, which I still love. But like I said, I wanted something exciting and new. Wait… isn’t that a song? ???? ???? Love….. Exciting and New…. Come aboard…. we’re expecting you…… Name that tune! ???? I decided to go a totally different route. These two are a mixture of cream and charcoal and that’s it. I am not a matchy-match type of person. So I wanted to keep them in the same color family since they are in the same room. I get asked that question all of the time. Do rugs have to match if they are in the same room? Well, I have never matched my rugs. As long as they are in the same color category, they will work. But remember.. I’m no expert. I do what I like.
I showed you the Christmas decor on this side of the living room at the rental a few days ago. Nothing has changed much except the rug. I loved this Warroad Area Rug because of the pattern and the soft colors. You know me with too much pattern and too many colors. For some reason, I go berserk after a few months, if that long. ???? With the Warroad being smaller, I can handle a busier pattern.
The Burdette Area Rug was the perfect choice for over by the couch. It feels the same way to me… with the light colors, it makes the room feel so much bigger. This rug is a 8×10 so I kept the pattern a little calmer and not too crazy. And I love it!
Speaking of crazy…. Did you notice I already got rid of the original beige curtains I hung in the rental a few months back? ???? While I loved them, I was missed my plain boring white. ???? These white curtains made this room so much brighter. And I need bright rooms here in Indiana due to the lack of sun all Winter.
Boutique Rugs have SO MANY different choices. They shipped my rugs out right away and they arrived safely. I have my eyes on a few different ones, but in the same color family. I will keep you posted on those… because I know I will be switching out a few more. You will have to check them out.
What do you think? Exciting and New? ???? Let me know in the comments or over on Instagram and Facebook. I love to chat with you.

I love these rugs! I think the New Year is a great time to update — thanks for sharing! Going to hop in over to Boutique Rugs and check them out!
Thank you. And me too. I want a fresh start for the new year.
I love both these rugs! I too have shopped for rugs a number of times and had some clear winners and a few total losers! It’s hard to know for sure what will work perfectly in your space till it’s under your feet! I do have a question though – do you wish you had a larger rug under the two chairs? I always struggle with the right proportions but it just looks like a larger rug might have been better? Do you think so? Regardless, I love the pattern and color you selected! I look forward to seeing your next purchase!
Thank you! If I would have gotten a bigger one, it would have been under that big cabinet. I don’t want to deal with moving that.
You two are wizards. The rental is so freakin FAR from a turd… and girl, you don’t know tiny rooms until you step into mine. My living room can take a 4 X 6 rug… FOUR by SIX! It is the world’s smallest livingroom where no living is done because hello! teeny tiny. And you have room for THREE rugs? egad. I love the rugs, the cozy feel of your rooms and just about everything in them. Enjoy the build process, or try to.
hahaha Aww thank you. Yes.. yours is way smaller
I love both of them! They are perfect for that space. I’m going to be looking for rugs soon. I guess it’s the move but I’m thinking about an entirely new look for this place. I can’t do anything about the furniture right now but will be considering a new look in other decor. That’s if I live through this move! I’ve been so, so sick and now have an abcessed tooth. Pain deluxe!
Oh no… moving is stressful enough and then add a tooth problem. Good luck to you.
I LOVE everything you do from décor to projects!! LOVE those rugs! How do you keep everything white & not stained?!? With my husband working in manufacturing & his work boots, jeans, & hands – even tho he tries to get cleaned up before he steps in the house and a dog…..I wish I could pull of your décor!!!!! Or I just don’t know how to clean stuff or what to use
Thanks so much… Oh geez.. .that would be hard working in that line of work and keeping things white. I do know that slip covers help so much with the furniture. We wash ours frequently.
