This look in the dining room isn’t rocket science or earth shattering. LOL I actually just asked Deb if this look was way too simple to share. She said, “Some people like simple.” And, I figured you may still be inspired and possibly have a few of the same items to duplicate the look. So… here it is.
I wanted to keep the table simple and uncluttered because we eat here. We don’t like to scoot things over to eat. And, we also like to have a clear view out the windows in both directions. These windows are actually one of my favorite spots in the cottage. And, the plan is for even more windows in this area of the house when we design it. (it’s actually in the process right now.) It’s such a great place to sit and relax while we eat… drink coffee in the morning.. chit chat with friends. We love it.
Anyway… here is my simple neutral look in the cottage dining area.
I started with using one of my fall colored dish towels as a small runner just to add a little interest and a first layer. I added my round gold tray as a base to hold all of my items. And then I just started adding a few things here and there until I got the simple look that I wanted.
This large vintage carboy is always fun to add long stems to during the holidays. I’ve used this so much since I found it on the marketplace years ago. I found these fall leaf stems and thought they were perfect for this neutral look.
I wanted some more height since adding that huge glass jug, so I added my glass cake plate to hold the ceramic pumpkin – which I found at my local Kroger. (HERE IS A SIMILAR PUMPKIN) And, then added my stack of black and white polka dot dishes. I thought they looked cute for the season. To keep a similar height on the other side of the tray, I added a vintage brass candle stick to balance it all out.
I love creating little areas like this for the seasons. It is so quick and simple and anyone can do it. It just gives the right amount of fall. What do you think?

Love everything here – not so simple but super stylish and comfy cozy. Need that rug for my house… is that Rugs USA?
I like it simple on the dining table too. There is nothing worse than having to move everything for every meal. I love all of your windows too.
Love the look. I am going to do the exact same thing in my kitchen. Thanks girls.
Well, I just found y’all. And I am so glad i did! I am about to move into the house that was my grandparents and then my mom lived there, and now i will. It’s not an old house. But it needs some love for sure. I’ve always loved antiques and I have collected quite a few over the years. Y’all are showing my how i can incorporate them into this “modern farmhouse” world!
