Have you been following along with our series Styles from the Shelves over on social media? If not, I just shared Styles from the Shelves – Part Three last night. Check out the video form of this styling session on Instagram and TikTok. Also, check out Part One and Part Two, here on our website as well. Now that is out of the way, here is what Deb chose for me to style this week in this little series.
If you have never even heard of this series, it is where Deb chooses something in my home decor room for me to style in our home. This has been such a great thing for me personally. First off, I am trying to organize my home decor room and purge anything that I don’t want anymore. So this is helping me see everything that I have down there. Secondly, Deb chooses things that I haven’t necessarily styled in years. I tend to grab the same exact things as always, simply because it’s easy. And thirdly, I hope that it inspires you to use things in your own collections of home decor and give you some different ideas for your home.
This week, she chose an old cheese box. This is something that I have had for years and found on the Facebook Marketplace. I have always used it as a riser for different things in my decor. However, I used it a little differently this week.
We have a small stool in the bathroom by the shower to hold our body brushes, a few towels, bathroom spray, etc. I styled that when we first moved in and hadn’t touched it except to add a Christmas tree around the holidays. So, it was the perfect spot for this cheese box.
I decided to style our bath towels in the open cheese box and it worked perfectly. To be honest, these towels are here for emergencies. We usually grab our towels from the linen closet but as you know, sometimes a person forgets. I like to keep them close by in case of that situation. Since I am a layering girl in my decor, I love to add shorter layers in front of other taller items. So, I started adding other decor around that cheese box including my favorite taper candles in an antique candlestick and some potted flowers that I have had for years. Of course, I added a gold rabbit for the season and a wooden box that holds my remote for the taper candle and bathroom spray.
I actually finished this look and decided I wanted something behind my little display. So I grabbed this old wooden register cover and added it behind as a back drop. I love how this little area turned out. It is functional as well as perfect in our decor.

That turned out great. I love the layering look you do. I also wanted to say thank you for continuing to post on your blog. I love looking at instagram but I really love to read the how to’s.
Thank you! I am so glad there are some people who like to take the time to slow down and do some reading!
