Updates on the Property: The Pond

For those of you on social media, you probably already saw what we are up to now?  I had to keep my blog friends updated on what is going on these days.   It involves several pieces of equipment, including a couple of bulldozers and a tractor.  And a few other things that I’ve never seen before.    It includes several loads of BIG stones and several loads of sand.  This new area on the property will also include a fountain, a few lounging lawn chairs, and a few floaties.

If you guessed a pond, you win.  There is no prize but you still win!  ????

Updates on the Property: The Pond

As I’ve said time and time again, Deb and I love to have different areas on our properties to hang out and relax.  We had a deck built which we are still finishing.  I will update you as soon as that is done.  We built a pergola swing set which we are also in the middle of finishing.  The non-stop rain put a damper on that project for a few weeks.  The fire pit was probably one of our first projects we did out here and we have so many more planned.

We have 5 acres total with roughly two being outside of the woods.  We were either going to have to plant all of that with grass and mow it every week, or we could have a pond dug which would take care of that problem.  The pond also gives us another area to hand when it’s hot.

The Plan for the Pond

Because that area outside the woods is so small, we will obviously have a smaller pond.  But that’s OK.  It gives us extra dirt we will need when we build the house hopefully next Spring.  Pond boys said it will be about 9-10′ deep.  We have always envisioned a pond as we pull in the driveway.  It will have a fountain to keep the water from getting stagnant.  Bulldozer boys are bringing a load of sand to make us a beach area so that we can have out lounge chairs.  And they also told us that they could add lots of sand to the bottom so that we could still walk without getting into muck.

Deb and I are both looking so forward to floating on the pond during the hot days of the year.  And seeing the beautiful sunsets every night.  They have been absolutely gorgeous this summer.
