Last week we shopped the famous 127 Yard Sales – The World’s Longest Yard Sales. I cannot tell you how much fun we had. Today, I wanted to share my antique haul from the 127 yard sale with you all because I found some goodies.
First off, if you love seeing different antique hauls along with prices, make sure to check out the rest of my posts. I have shared many hauls with you throughout the years. Not only from the 127 Yard Sales, but from antique malls, flea markets, yard sales, etc.
The 127 Yard Sale, often referred to as “The World’s Longest Yard Sale,” was created in 1987. It was created in Tennessee by local government officials who wanted to promote tourism along U.S. Route 127, a highway that runs from Michigan to Alabama. The idea was to create an event that would draw visitors to small towns and rural communities along the route, boosting the local economy. The 127 Yard Sale quickly grew in popularity, expanding to cover a route that now stretches over 690 miles. The sale takes place over the first weekend in August and draws thousands of vendors and shoppers from across the country. You can find your typical yard sale items which include everything. I typically look for the vintage and antique items.
If you haven’t been and are close, you must shop it. It is so fun and I look forward to this sale every year. My sister lives in North Carolina and comes home for it. I have never done this before but I attended the sale at the Van Wert County Fairgrounds on Wednesday evening during set up. Deb and I went shopping on our typical Thursday morning. And, then my sister and I both went Friday morning and Saturday morning. I was shocked we still found goodies the fourth day.
Like I said above, I love looking for antique and vintage items. This year, I found a ton. And, once I got home, I started adding everything to my decor. So these photos are my finds already styled in our home.
This vintage radio was at a yard sale that was being held for their church so the donations went toward a few of their new programs. I thought $10 was a great price and I knew I could display it somewhere in our home. The color is really nice. The cord needs replaced if we really want it to work. I can see us fixing this up and getting it into working order this winter when we are stuck inside.
This was my first purchase on Thursday morning. The moment I saw it, I knew it was for me. If I see any antique frame for under $20, I grab them. Especially when they have the glass and are in great condition. This one happened to have this cool vintage calendar. When we were hanging this, I noticed the calendar was very thick so I’m wondering if it is the entire year of 1942. I will soon find out.
I started a new collection of old wooden canes. I already had one in my possession and thought it was really cool. They kept popping up for me throughout the entire sale after I bought the first one. One lady had 3 of them marked $1 each. I picked up one and she said, “Oh please take all of them for $2.” She was afraid she would have a ton of stuff left at the end of the sale. So, of course, I did.
I used to have a few wooden bowls in my collection years and years ago but sold them at a yard sale. So, I guess you could say that I started another new collection with these. The patina on them is gorgeous and I will be styling these somewhere soon.
I saw these antique poker chips on Thursday and didn’t get them, but thought about them for a few days. When my sister and I went back, I decided that if they were still there, I was going to grab them. I have no clue why I think they are so cool, but I do. I have them here in the wooden bowls, but they won’t stay here. They feel like the celluloid mirrors that I collect. Which speaking of…..
My first purchase this year was a celluloid hand mirror to add to my collection. We have never gone on Wednesday night, but we checked out the Van Wert Fairgrounds where people were setting up. Most of the vendors were already selling items by Wednesday evening. I found the hand mirror and a celluloid brush for $2.
If you are a collector of anything, you know how fun it is to come home and add a few pieces. These spongeware custard cups were $2. We found them on Saturday and were some of the last items that I bought. My cabinet is getting full with my collection of green and gold colored pieces.
This is Deb and I. Ha! I told her that I was going to tell people this. I used to remove the old photos in frames like this but I happen to love them now. I actually bought this for the frame and the price was excellent.
This little stool was only $4 and it’s going to get a makeover. I will share that here once it’s done. Deb is going to sand it and even out the legs a bit since it set in a barn. Once that is done, I will be staining and varnishing it and it will be adorable. I love tucking stools here and there in our decor for plants or extra seating.
I did get a big urn that isn’t an antique but thought it would look cute somewhere with a Christmas tree this winter. It was only $3. All in all, we had the best time shopping the 127 Yard Sales this year.
We may earn a small commission when you use one of our links to make a purchase.
I went on the 127 with my SIL this year. Brought home lots of treasures. I’ve been working everything I purchased into my home since Sunday. Can’t wait to go on a different “leg” of the yard sale next year.
Isn’t it the most fun.
Where did you find the adorable picture of the 3 girls with the witches hats, in the first photo? I’ve been on the lookout for items like this and no luck.
My bestie and I travel from Ga and start in Signal Mt, Tn. We always start on Monday and check out all the vendors open along the way!! We have the best time finding new treasures and this year we got to Frankfort Ky before we had to start back on Friday!! This was our 13th year and hope to continue on!!! ( Didn’t have to rent a UHaul this year)
Love the piano stool and that photo of the two children could be incorporated into your Halloween decor!
We went to the 127 for the first time this year! Came from Florida and started just outside of Chattanooga, TN the first day then went south through GA and AL until the rain put a stop to it. Found some cool items.
I absolutely love everything you bought I also love your home and everything in it 💗
