The stairway landing door project is done. OK, it’s not DONE, DONE. But Deb got the antique doors on the stairway landing hung. Now I need to get my shit together and do my part. I need to fill holes and paint the trim inside each closet. She had to remove the trim work on both frames in order for the doors to hang level, etc. So basically, I get the easy job. I revealed the linen closet door a few days ago so I wanted to show you this whole area and how it has changed. Remember what it looked like before?
You already know I’m obsessed with old doors and have several in our house. We’ve always wanted to replace these closet doors on the stairway landing with old doors. Because, quite frankly, there is nothing like the patina of old doors. The wood is just gorgeous. The wear and tear from years past is completely evident, and I love that. These doors came from an old factory that was being renovated which I shared with you last week. If you haven’t read that post, you must, as this rescue wasn’t an easy task.
By the way, this stairway landing is so hard to photograph. There is so much light that comes into that dormer window so the rest of the area is dark. I’m sure a professional photographer would be able to shoot this area with ease, but ???????? a professional photographer, I am not.
The linen closet was first to be completed. I believe I’m going to add some type of old handle to each door and add a mirror behind the beveled glass to hide the contents of each closet.
Ivy’s bedroom got a total makeover with her new door. ???? We removed her little gate since we never really use it anymore. She’s such a good little girl and just goes to her own room every night and stays there until we get up. There is no need to crate her anymore. Ivy’s bedroom happens to hold all of our paint clothes so don’t think we are completely nuts. ????
I want to find a few new pieces of furniture to style this area a little differently but this works for now. And I will be sure and keep you updated when I find the perfect pieces. I just had to show my bloggy friends the finished (almost finished) antique doors on our stairway landing!
Thanks so much for stopping by the blog. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. Let me know what you think about our doors in the comments, or chat with me over on Facebook and Instagram. I love hearing from you. I pledge my love!
Buh bye for now!
