We did it!

The only thing left on our original entryway to-do list was to

    • Repair, sand, and re-finish the steps ☑️
    • Install our BIG AND GAUDY chippy porch column ☑️

And we did it.

Do you like the WE part?

When we were removing trash from the house, the original stairway railing sort of….. kind of…..snapped right off.  I’m unsure who did it, but normally I take the blame for these things.    OK, I did it.

As Deb repaired the hole that I created in the step, she spent a lot of time talking to herself, which included a few curse words sprinkled about.  I wondered if this “sprinkling” was due to the fact I was in my cozy little nest on the couch being completely miserable for over a week recovering from a loud, annoying cough.

=   Lots of Sprinkling

And, I get it.  As I am sitting here typing this post, Ivy is licking her paw…I should say SLURPING.    I know NO ONE on the face of the earth that enjoys that sound and I, in fact, have sprinkled a few words myself.

Awwwwww….look how cute she is!

The Chippy Porch Column Rescue

Big and Gaudy

The wifey and I have several like ideas for this colonial home with farmhouse and cottage style decor.  Deb has the BIG part going on.  I usually have the gaudiness part in check and our ideas usually mesh pretty well.  I tend to give my advice freely.

Truth:  Chipped up old porch columns are regularly drug through our house searching for their final resting place.  There is always room for just one more.  Until it’s recent rescue, one of these babies ended up hanging out in my Office/Craft Room, which the wifey so lovingly refers to as my “Arts and Crafts Room:  K-12”.

GORGEOUS in all of it’s chippiness, this column needs to be BIG and GAUDY expanding from the first step to the ceiling.

=   Project Complete

This is a far cry from what it once was and seriously, I cannot wait to show you the finished entryway tomorrow.

And…….BUH BYE NOW – Said in a loud high-pitched old lady’s voice, because how else could you say BUH BYE NOW?
