I thought I would jump on here and let you all know what we’ve been up to over the last several days, besides being exhausted and having broken backs. I told you about our new trees we are having delivered and planted next week sometime. Yay!
I’ve talked many times about that big, janky concrete patio that is the future site of our pergola. This space is probably the only thing we haven’t touched on this entire property. The sun is blazing hot back there and the concrete is all uneven. We had plans of laying some type of pavers over this slab to even it all out after we build the pergola.
See…. very, very janky.
The ideal place for one of those big shade trees is smack dab in the middle of this concrete, approximately in the same location as the ones we had to have cut down.
Soooooooo, Deb got this brainy idea last weekend to rent a bobcat with a jack hammer attachment. What the, what? I would never do something like that but we don’t put anything past Deb, now do we?
Yep, that’s her running the show. ???? I was the person who had to “make sure she didn’t run into anything.” ???? I was also the person who was literally having a stroke watching all of this take place. Seriously, these little bobcats are nothing to mess with.
She made this look easy. It wouldn’t have been the case had she not previously mowed with a zero turn mower.
So the plan now is to bust up the outer part of this concrete pad and repurpose most of it into paths and to line our flower beds. We repurposed another big pile that was here on the property when we bought the house doing the same. It works really well to use them as stepping-stones and borders.
And on a side note, I snapped these pictures when we were taking a small break. And, I swear Ivy looks like she should be in one of those sad ASPCA videos. ???? Queue Sarah McLachlan’s song, Angel, and we will be all set. ????
And I guess when you can’t find a pillow outside, you just lay your head on a pile of rocks. ???? You will all have to remember that little tip, courtesy of Ivy.
Yesterday we used our pry bar and our backs to move lots of the pieces around into the shape of paths we want. And we also figured out where some new flower beds will go. The hot tub came in pretty darn handy after yesterday’s shenanigans.
I absolutely cannot wait until this area is done because it’s been such an eyesore. And my excitement level is through the roof so I will for sure keep you posted. ???? We didn’t even want to hang out in our backyard but I can tell, it will be our new favorite place.
Thanks for stopping by. Check us out on Facebook and Instagram where I share lots more.
I pledge my love and absolutely love to hear from you all. So, let me know what you think!
Buh bye now!
