When Deb and I go visit my sister in North Carolina, our favorite thing to do is thrift and antique shop. The last time I went to see her, we found several fun things. I shared my haul with you, which is something that I do frequently. I love seeing what people find in their areas, what they pay for it, and what they will do with it. My sister came for a quick visit this week. So, of course, we did a bit of antique shopping and found some fun things. So I wanted to share this week’s antique finds with you today.
I LOVE vintage baskets. This one has the prettiest color and double hinged handles. I love the basket weave on this one, too. And I have none like it. They look so pretty sitting on top of antique cabinets, underneath side table, in the bathroom holding toilet paper, etc. I can think of so many uses for this.
I collect these pitures in the brown tone and have several. You really can’t beat the price of $9. Normally, I pay around $10-$15 for these so this was a great deal. I currently have a few of them from my collection on the open shelves in our kitchen.
I have always been obsessed with these little folding rulers. They come in all different colors and lengths. We have a few so I grabbed these to add to our collection.
I have one of these vintage wooden barrel taps in storage and am always intrigued by them. We stopped at this little thrift store and I found all three of these for $5 and under. I will figure out a cute way to display them.
One of my favorite things that I found during our antique excursions are these vintage chalkboards. I cannot imagine using these to write on during school. I know that my grandma was in a one-room schoolhouse, so she used these. And this one has one of the past user’s name written in pencil. After I bought these, I saw them at few other stores and they were twice this amount of money.
We may earn a small commission when you use one of our links to make a purchase.
Love it all.
Thanks, Shela.
Great finds!! The vintage wooden barrel taps are so cool.
Thanks, Monica!
My heart did a little flip when I saw those wooden folding tape measures! My dad was a gifted carpenter. When I was a child, he would come home from work smelling like sawdust and all things woodsy. He always left his tool box and tape ruler on the laundry/mudroom cabinet and I would ask if I could hold his “ruler”. He always said yes and would gently add, “don’t break daddy’s ruler because I need it for my work’. I would spend an hour or so unfolding and folding his ruler in double and triple folds. It fascinated me. After my dad retired, he had a huge workshop in his home basement where he piddled for hours on wooden projects, helping build cabinets for friends and family and working on small engines.
When my dad passed away and we siblings were pondering what personal item(s) we might like to have, I immediately spoke up for his folding ruler snd his handmade wooden tool box. They are a few of my most prized possessions. Thanks for letting me share. 💕
I have a very similar story! I love my Dads wooden folding rulers❤️☺️
Gayle, that is so special! I’m sorry he passed but what a special memory/tool you have. 💕
OMGosh Danielle those keg taps would make a fun coat or bag rack! I’m sure Deb could mount them into a length of wood! Looking forward to what you choose to do with them!
Love that idea!
Such interesting finds. I always love to see what you get.
THANK YOU, Karen.
Yes, Robin! I immediately thought they’d make great towel, blanket, or coat holders! I’ve never seen those before. Thanks for sharing your haul, D&D!
