I enjoy sharing great recipes with you guys. Did you know there is a recipe tab up top? I have shared a few different recipes throughout the years and store them all there. Take a browse through. You may find something you may like to try. We eat the refreshing summer salad almost every week and sometimes twice. It is so dang good. And so is the salmon recipe that we eat LOTS.
Deb found this recipe for turkey chili in the slow cooker. Today was the first time we made it and it was FANTASTIC. So fantastic that I wanted to share it immediately. When I worked outside of the home, my crockpot was my best friend. I threw meals in that crockpot several times a week to make my evenings a lot more enjoyable.
This recipe actually says to cook on low all day, but since we were home, we set it on high. And, you obviously don’t have to make it in the slow cooker but we did. It was so simple and so quick. Basically you just throw all of the ingredients in and forget about it!
1 can cannellini beans (drained and rinsed)
1 can black beans (drained and rinsed)
1 pkg ground turkey (uncooked)
1 small onion
garlic (however much you prefer)
1 small can green chiles
2/3 T of chili powder
2/3 cup of fresh salsa or pico de gallo (we used whatever we had on hand)
1 cup chicken broth
salt and pepper
Again.. toss everything in your slow cooker. Cook on low all day. We cooked this on high for about 3 hours and stirred it once. You can add cheese, sour cream, chips, etc. And, whatever you like on your chili.
Have I mentioned it was DELICIOUS. If you have trouble with the acidity of the typical chili made with tomato sauce, I think this will be a favorite of yours. It was very mild! We will definitely be adding this to our normal rotation, especially during the fall and winter months that are quickly approaching.

Did you add any kind of beans to this recipe because the picture looks like there are beans of some kind of beans in your bowl.
Hi Pam, there’s an ad in the middle of the ingredient list so it’s easy to miss the first ingredient. There is 1 can cannellini beans (drained and rinsed) in the recipe. I’m glad you mentioned this or I would have missed it too. I can’t wait to try this recipe. It will be perfect for the weather cool-down this week.
Oh and 1 can of black beans!
Do you cook the ground turkey first before putting it in crockpot? Looks really good!
I made this tonight & it is so good. thank you for sharing the recipe.
I made this… really delicious. I ended up using ground turkey and ground chicken because I had it. After cooking it I added a little more salsa since I like a little more heat and it was great. I went fairly heavy on the garlic and onion. So, I. Wasn’t sure if I should cook the meat first or not. Since I had extra lean meat , I didn’t, but will next time. I mashed up some up the beans trying to break up the meat. Still really good though. Thanks for the recipe.
I needed something different today after a week of COVID weirdness. No time for the slow cooker, so I browned the turkey, onion, and garlic in olive oil, threw everything else in, and let it simmer a good 30 mins. Just as you‘ve said, it was DELICIOUS!! definitely a keeper!
Awesome… so glad you loved it. I have actually been craving this.
