You know that vintage style is my vibe. I am in love with the worn texture of vintage baskets, wooden kitchen tools, brass candle sticks, etc.  Our antique buffet in the dining room got a refresh and I filled it with vintage treasures. I shared this look in a reel over on social media, if you like video form.  I love to layer items when I decorate so that is what I did here. Here is a vintage layered look that I came up with.

Vintage Layered Look

I started with a large tray which is a great way to keep smaller items grouped together. It helps to make full areas look less cluttered because the tray acts as ONE item.  This is a vintage wooden tray that I found at an antique mall. I cannot remember what it was actually called but it had something to do with baking. Do you remember when Deb recreated this a few years back. If not, you can find that post here.  It comes in so handy in decor and is a great size.

This night light has been on this buffet for quite awhile.  We made it out of an old lamp years ago, but it’s one of my favorites that we have done.  See this post for a tutorial on how we make these. I added a wood and marble cake stand behind it and added a little wooden bucket full of tulips to that.

A few other treasures…

Any time I find old baskets at thrift stores, they come right home with me. I can’t remember where I found this one, but it’s such a great size. Old baskets add so much texture and warmth to a space.  I filled this one with all of my collection of wooden kitchen utensils that I have had for years. They are something that I could afford when I first started collecting antiques.  You could easily pick them up for 25cents at yard sales and thrift stores. Some of these have been with me for almost 40 years and have been displayed in many homes.

The old crock with a wire handle is one I picked up a few years back. It’s filled with my collection of antique butter spatulas. These are another thing that I have carried with me throughout the years. I still pick these items up when I see them for a great price. 

Do you remember our Springfield Extravaganza haul from May?  It included this beer bottle. We love these but they are pretty pricey. This one was a great price so we grabbed it and made it the first piece of a new collection.  Ha!  I added a softer element with these linen napkins that are new but look old.

I like how this turned out. It’s full of vintage treasures which is my favorite type of decorating.  I hope you got inspired to fill a space in your home with vintage treasures.
