I know you guys are probably thinking… “you need another project like you need a hole in your head.” Let me give you the run down of our lives over the last week. I told you guys we sold the House on Winchester. Well, we had a move from HELL once again. In all honesty, are there any moves that are smooth sailing? I doubt. So, when I say “a move from hell”, I’m sure you all have been through the same thing. I have been showing glimpses of our rental house being put together where we will be living until we build. I will be doing blog posts on those rooms, too. We are making small changes that don’t cost much (since it’s not ours) but makes a HUGE difference. We are currently working on the kitchen so be watching for a before and after post on that soon.
In the meantime, I thought I would give you a quick tour of our camper and give you a glimpse of what I have in mind for it. And for those asking, we are giving ourselves a few days to recover from the move, put our little rental together, and then game on. We have to start clearing the land for our barn and home. This little camper will give us a little fun project to work on when we are waiting on contractors, etc. So… here are the BEFORE pictures of our new camper.
We had a teeny tiny camper years ago and after a quick remodel, we LOVED that thing. It was truly the jankiest of all janky campers. It was SO SMALL and from the 80s, but it was perfect for us. We had to make the table to a bed every single night because there wasn’t an actual bedroom. When we arrived at every campground, we walked the entire thing priding ourselves that ours was the smallest. I think there was only one time we didn’t win the teeniest tiniest camper award. ????
But when we moved out to the woods several years ago, we decided to sell it because we didn’t think we would use it. We have always talked about getting another one because we LOVE camping, but we never had a good place to store it in town. When this 2003 Trail Bay Trailer popped up on Facebook for such a great price, we decided we needed to go take a look. Of course, we fell in LOVE with it for several reasons. It is the perfect size for us, it has a separate bedroom that we don’t have to actually MAKE the bed every night, and the price was ????????…. The first owner was an older lady who took VERY GOOD care of it. The second owners only had it a year to use while they were at their lake site. Sooooooooooo…… we bought a camper!
One thing we loved about this camper is the layout. The front door drops you directly into the living room, dining area, and kitchen. With the dining area slide out, it feels very roomy. Our tiny camper was very cramped. I’m thinking it was only 12′. ???? So this seems like a palatial palace compared to that. ???? This little gem is 16 years old this year, so it needs a little bit of an update in the decor department. I know this is what most campers look like, but I know I have a LOT of changes I want to make.
You know my need for light and bright spaces. First up will be a fresh coat of paint on all of the walls and cabinetry. I’m loving the Kilz primer and paint in one these days. The projects seem to go faster.
I believe we will be removing the cabinets above the couch and adding some decor. I mean… come on now. That will be a must. We will more than likely put some type of camping sign or decorative metal piece there. Actually a letter board would be very appropriate for Deb. She could say lots of inappropriate things. ????
I absolutely cannot wait to pluck these window treatments off. I plan on keeping my entire look woods and whites, just like our home. So I would love to go with some type of bamboo blinds. I love the medium brown colored ones the best, but I haven’t completely decided.
The side tables beside the couch aren’t cutting it for me. My plan is to maybe just install a wall shelf on each side of the couch so it looks a little better. All we need is a space for our cell phones and drinksies. ????
I FREAKING LOVE the new peel and stick back splash tile that are out there now. I think it adds so much interest. Peel and stick is probably the only thing we could use because you have to be careful about adding extra weight to a camper. I found so many that I love on Walmart.com.
Bye bye carpet. YUCK! Carpet and camping don’t jive in my book. Not to mention, this old gal’s flooring has a few stains and is faded a lot around the dining area. I love the idea of wood looking vinyl plank flooring and particularly love the ones with warm tones. It will keep with my woods and whites theme.
The bathroom is the bomb, too. The shower/tub combo is nice. It is so much roomier than most little bathrooms. The sailboat stickers will for sure go…. And my plan is to get a high arched faucet for the bathroom so we can wash our faces easier. It leaves plenty of room. And I want to do the the same with the kitchen faucet.
You guys.. I have so many plans for this little camper and cannot wait to begin. I would love for you to follow along on Instagram where we will be showing you lots of different stories along the way. I’m hoping to get this little gem started in the next couple of weeks.

Hi Danelle I can’t wait to see what you do with the camper!
Can’t wait to see what you do with your camper
We bought one this summer and I have removed the borders and all the valances. Added some wood flooring. Reupholstered a little bit
I’m in New England so now we will be winterizing it soon till the Spring
BTW. DONT remove the wallpaper, it’s partial board underneath. Paint right over the wallpaper
The border removes very easily. I had no problem
The camper re-do will be SO much fun to watch, along with Deb’s antics! I love to watch you decorate-I wish I had your talent! Can’t wait!
Fun project. Looking forward to following along.
OMG I can’t wait to see what y’all do! So glad you’re painting the woodwoork/cabinets. Maybe I missed it, but hopefully you’ll change the fabric, too? Y’all be good, try not to do too much, and have your happy hour as needed! Take care! <3
I am quite positive that it is going to be gorgeous! I cannot wait to follow along
You two amaze me. Thank you for inspiring me to get off my butt more and get things done! I love what you’ve already done with the little rental and can’t wait to see the building process on new house in the woods. I also love your ideas for sprucing up the camper!!
This is my dream!! I want to redo a camper so bad!! Mine will be very retro though, turquoise, red & white…very 50’s diner style???? I can’t wait to see how yours turns out, stunning I’m sure. So excited for y’all!
Oh how fun, another project, just what I love to see. Did you name the camper yet?
I heard from friends that ikea furniture fits perfect in camper/rv’s…. because furniture is on smaller scale. Have fun… can’t wait to see what the future holds for you both.
YES…. I am going to grab a couch from ikea for the camper for sure. I love the fact the covers can be washed.
I am totally following this journey. We have a 5th wheel we love but it also needs updating. My biggest problem is the wallpaper is peeling off in some places. We have already planned on painting the walls.
But first, take a break from that crazy move!
???? STGG.
Oh boy, this will be fun! I can’t wait to see what yall do because everything you do is awesome!
My husband talks about a camp/RV. It would be fun to redo one. I know it will turn out fabulous!
Our camper is pretty much identical. Will really enjoy watching the changes you make.
Now I want a camper a plot in the woods a dog and fire pit because what ever you two do you make it so your friends are right along with you enjoying your energy and of course happy hour. Have fun
hahahaha Awww. thank you!
My friend and I bought a 1995 RV and I’m just starting to redecorate it. Those ugly window coverings and blinds came down 1st. Can’t wait to continue.
Oh my gosh… it seems like they would be a little more stylish these days. But I think they are all still like that. ????
Well ladies. It’s 2020. Feb 1. Valentines Month show some DIY project love ❤️ in the Camper

I had a 2004 27ds and wish I had it back. I would love to see your changes I would not change very much on mine except the tub to a shower pan and the sofa to a trifold queen sleeper if possible. This is still the best layout camper for 2 people in my opinion
