Antique Finds this Week – Concrete Finials

We have been feeling recently like we are so busy, but it seems like we aren’t doing anything that exciting.  Ha. Do you have those weeks? I have a HUGE, and I mean HUGE, list of things I want to do and they aren’t getting marked off very quickly.  That is unlike me.  We also have a few projects started and haven’t had the time to finish them, which is also unlike us. I don’t know what’s going on. It may be simply the transition from winter to spring.  Deb found something exciting on the marketplace a few days back so we ran to pick them up a few nights ago.  So here are our antique finds this week – concrete finials.

Antique Finds this Week

Something strange happens to me a lot.  I think things and they happen.  I’m not sure if it’s manifestation or what but it happens quite often.

Manifesting is based on the idea that you can think your dreams into reality. By having a clear vision and focusing on it through a variety of manifestation methods, you can attract your dream into your life

A few days ago, I was on Instagram and came upon this absolutely gorgeous account.  You can see it here.  Their gardens are breathtakingly beautiful.  There are a few things that inspired both Deb and I about their garden spaces.  One of the things is to create a small intimate place on our property to get that homey feeling. Deb is currently planning that.  They also had antique/vintage stone finials or orbs that added so much interest to their gardens.  I’ve seen them before and thought how fabulous they would look up here on our porch, which is getting a makeover really soon.

Not even kidding, a few days later, Deb sent me a Facebook Marketplace listing with 2 of those for sale.  We love mixing antique/vintage concrete items with new items on our property so these are right up our alley. It was a 45 minute-1 hour drive so it wasn’t bad.

The price was $150 for both.

When we got there, it happened to be a couple who was flipping a house.  These two orbs were at the end of the driveway.  He said his wife mentioned selling them and he said that no one would buy them.  We were the first to reply of ten different messages, so we got them.  Two more thoughts on this… Did I want to run up at 6:30pm to pick up antique finials?  Absolutely not.  We ended up getting home at 8:30pm and went straight to bed. Ha!  But, I know that the marketplace can be a dangerous place to sit and wait if you really want something.  So we always pick up our items ASAP.  Secondly, I absolutely cannot wait to get these in place here on the porch. I’m thinking building them up on the steps with some type of pedestal.  And, if we don’t like them on our porch, they will look great in our vegetable garden.

Stay tuned because I will for sure share where they end up.

  • I love them! I love FB Marketplace but you are right you have to go when you bid or they will give it to the next person. Can’t wait to see where you put them!💕

  • These are wonderful. I wonder what those weird and interesting "rune-like" carvings are on their original columns.
