Antique Finds from Springfield Flea Market

The Springfield Ohio Extravaganza is the best antique flea market on the face of the planet… I am not kidding.  I started attending this flea market YEARS ago when I was probably in my 20s.  When Deb popped into my life, I introduced her to it and she feels the same.  There are over 2,000 vendors each May and September at the Extravaganza who bring all of the things.  The flea market starts on Friday and lasts through Sunday.  We usually attend on Friday and come home with a truck load.

I’m sure some of you are saying, “Why in the sam hill would you be going to a flea market when you live in a tiny rental and have a storage unit full?”  Well… we asked ourselves the same questions.  ????   Doing what we do, we have to have new looks for you and the companies we work for.  You don’t want to see the same things over and over and over.  And I don’t either.  We made up our minds a few weeks ago that our rental is going to get a re-fresh.  We are moving all of our furniture around to give it a different feel.  And, hopefully spark some new creativity in us both and make us feel better about being here.

So, in the process of moving our furniture around, we are going to be selling a few things that don’t bring us joy anymore.  Therefore, they need replaced.  We found so many good things so I wanted to share our antique finds from the Springfield flea market with you!

Antique Finds from Springfield Flea Market

You know I love my collections.. I have several.  ????   I find collections so easy to decorate with and so fun to look for.  If I find something that I love, I will keep seeing it pop up at flea markets.  And when things are at great prices, I can’t pass it up.

We found several old pitchers which I love not only to display, but to add flowers for each season.  They are so easy to grab for so many things.  And they look cute all lined up on a shelf.  We found an antique wall phone without any of the insides, but I still loved it.  I believe it was $12.  They look really cute sitting on a side table to hold remotes, tissues, and any other items you need on a side table while relaxing for the evening.  We grabbed the small cabinet doors because Deb will be making something exciting out of those when she gets her workshop.  And the large 15 gallon crock with a crack was a steal at only $20.

Here is the list of items we found.

  • old phone case
  • cabinet doors
  • spool cabinet
  • white stool
  • sewing machine drawers
  • parker cabinet
  • large 15 gallon crock
  • several pitchers
  • goodies cookie jar
  • small wardrobe

A little back story on the Goodies jar.  I have had a different shaped Goodies jar since my early 20s.  It was found at a garage sale for $2.  It has moved with me everywhere throughout the years.  It is currently in storage.  I have seen them throughout the years for hundreds of dollars WITH the lid.  I don’t have the lid, but I dream of one day finding them.  The red and green coloring makes them perfect to hold little Christmas trees, which is what I have done in the past.  So I had to pick this one up for $10.

Little Drawers

I’m a sucker for little drawers.  We found a few antique sewing machine drawers with the frames for $10.  We use these on side tables, also, for extra storage.  I will be sharing how Deb attaches them together soon.  We picked up an old spool cabinet for a GREAT price, too.  It needs some work but for the price, we both thought it was worth it.

We had SO MUCH FUN at the flea market this past weekend.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous in the 60s and it was sunny.  We attended on Friday like we normally do.  Friday tickets are good for the entire weekend.  We found out our friends were going on Sunday so we tagged along with them and picked up a few more goodies including that large crock and the wardrobe.

Stay tuned as I will be showing you the few pieces I haven’t shown you today, and how I style these pieces.  And, where they land.   I hope you enjoy me sharing my little antique flea market hauls as much as I do.
