You all should know me by now. I leave things alone for just a short while. And then boredom sets in. You’ve probably seen the master bedroom with several different looks over the last two years. We switched out the headboard from a large window and two shutters to three cathedral shaped windows. But, I was still bored. Actually, to be honest, I was more bored with the cathedral windows than I was with the shutter sitch. ????????♀️
The master bedroom is a room I’ve wanted to refresh for a while, because during the long Winter, we like to hang out in this room because it’s light and airy. This room is so big…. 14′ x 25′ to be exact…. that the expansive 25′ walls are pretty overwhelming. As stated above, I was already bored with the headboard and I wanted something different. I mentioned doing an accent wall in shiplap to Deb… and she gave that entire project a two thumbs down for a few reasons. She pointed out that everyone has shiplap and she wants something different. I agreed. She, also, stated that if we do a shiplap wall, we will have to remove the trim around the windows and the baseboard which would be a HUGE job. We still have the thick plaster walls. And our trim is not the average trim. I agreed.
I started looking all over Pinterest at different accent walls to see if any of them struck my fancy. ???? I love that saying. I was loving some of the pictures that I saw with accent walls in wallpaper. DON’T PANIC and call the Wallpaper Police. ????????✈️ ???? When I mentioned wallpaper to Deb, she said, “Ummmmmmm, NO.” It took a little convincing her. For starters, we wouldn’t have to remove any of the trim. She agreed. And if I install it correctly, it can be removed pretty easily. It’s unlike the wallpaper in the olden days that stuck to the walls forever and ever. She agreed. She was on board.
I started searching for different wallpaper companies and different patterns. I LOVED the idea of brick because our entire house has a brick exterior and I thought it would go great with our style. They have lots of different styles, including several choices of shiplap paper that looks unbelievably real. So if you are in the same boat with the trim situation, wallpaper is a great option for you.
Milton and King and I worked on this project together. Like I said above, they have all different varieties ranging from shiplap to brick. You can purchase samples so that you can see what it will look like in your space before making the commitment. I ordered several of the brick pattern and a few of the shiplap. I had my choice narrowed down to three, but the Whitewash Bricks pattern is the one both Deb and I LOVED. It looks so real and almost 3 dimensional.
I have to admit, I was the wallpaper guru back in the 80’s. I remember lots of bad memories from removing old wallpaper from the 40s and 50s to hanging new wallpaper. Remember soaking your paper in those long wallpaper pans filled with water? And the water pouring all down your legs when you went to hang it? Ya… me too. And let’s not forget when you went to cut it with a knife, it ripped ???? so you ended up having to cut it with scissors.
The quality of Milton and King Wallpaper is excellent. You apply this wallpaper by actually rolling the paste onto the wall with each sheet you do. So, there was basically no mess. It, also, cut very easily with a blade. AND…. supposedly you are able to remove it a lot easier than you could in the olden days. I will let you watch the videos on you-tube for installation rather than go into all of the details. Because, they are the professionals.
We ended up finishing this accent wall in a few hours (maybe 5 total). We had visitors… and we had to stop for a cocktail or two!
I have a lot more coming with this bedroom refresh and I’m so excited to tell you about it. I am absolutely loving the change and think the wallpaper gave the room something a little extra. What do you think? Let me know in the comments below or chat with me over on Facebook or Instagram.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I greatly appreciate it!

I love it! I'm sorry but I was not a fan of your past headboard. This looks like you.
Do you think this would work as a kitchen back splash?
