No-Bake Gingerbread Ornaments

I like to make a few DIY Christmas crafts every year to share with you.  Last year I re-created some folk art Santas that I made in the 90’s.  Some years I display them and some years they stay in those dreaded Christmas tubs.  The last several years, they have made their appearance.  I, also, shared the vintage looking feather trees that I, also, made in the 90s.  They are so simple to make and take just a few minutes.

This year, I wanted to share another really quick ornament idea that could be used as decorations for our Christmas tree.  But they could totally be used to decorate packages, etc.  After I shared these over on my Instagram stories, I had several teachers message me to say they make these with their students every year.

Here is how I did it!

No-Bake Gingerbread Ornaments

Directions:

Mix the top three ingredients in a bowl with a spatula.

Knead to make sure all of the ingredients are combined.

Roll out to 1/4″ thick on a cutting board dusted with nutmeg to prevent sticking.

I used a 3″ gingerbread cookie cutter to make these ornaments.  I wanted to use them to decorate my Christmas tree in the kitchen. So this was the best size for me.  But, they come in all shapes and sizes.

Just as I do with Christmas cookie cut-outs, I rolled the dough back out and cut out more gingerbread men until the dough was gone.

I put all of my little gingerbread boys on parchment paper and made a hole at the top for a string.  I used a skewer.  And, then just simply let them air dry.  Mine took about a day and a half.  Someone over on Instagram told me that I could have baked them in the oven at 200 degrees for an hour and they would have dried quicker.

This one batch made roughly 12 – 3″ gingerbread man ornaments.

I love how these little gingerbread man ornaments turned out.  They smell fantastic!  And are such a quick and easy Christmas craft for anyone to make!
