You know how much we love our outdoor spaces. Well, I have been working really hard on getting the porch comfy and cozy. As we spend so much time out there. I will be sharing all of the details of that really soon. While I was adding different seating areas, pillows on the swing, and incorporating a few things from storage unit, I realized that we don’t have an address number sign on the cottage.
I decided to pull out my Cricut machine and whip one up. This was such a simple little project. I shared it over on social media, but I wanted to document it here, too.
I use my Cricut for so many different projects. Once you get the hang of it, the possibilities are endless. You can make everything from tee shirts, labels for your pantry, decorations on mugs and drinking glasses, signs, etc. Deb found a piece of scrap wood in the garage and cut it to size. I wanted to keep it on the bigger side to make a statement. We stained that piece of wood in Dark Walnut to match our planters…. which we made from pallets. I shared that fun project last year some time.
I ended up cutting out my stencil with my Cricut with the size of numbers I wanted for this address sign… and decided to add a little more detail with our first names. And then the rest is self explanatory. I obviously used white paint which I had on hand here at the cottage.
Deb took more scrap wood and basically added a little trim around the entire thing. Making the top a little thicker to give it more details. And again, obviously, painted it black with some black spray paint we also had on hand.
All in all, this project cost us pretty much nothing as we used scrap wood and paint that we had on hand. These are the projects that I love. It started as a quick thought, we had everything here on hand, it was basically free, and it went very smooth.
I hope this gives you some ideas of your own to spruce up an old address number sign. I think it added some warmth and just a little bit extra to our front porch.
