As you know, we are full underway with the projects in the cottage. We always knew we wanted an electric fireplace here because it will be Deb’s workshop in the future once the house is built. And and electric fireplace insert would be the easiest for that area once we move into our house. We bought a HUGE antique fireplace mantel for the house last year so rather than keep it in the storage unit, we decided to plan the cottage around it.
We were on the hunt for the perfect insert!
Deb did a lot of research on electric fireplaces before we even started building. She is the research queen. The electric insert that caught her eyes was the Dimplex Revillusion Built-in Electric Firebox. We knew our situation was a little different considering we were using a giant antique fireplace mantel so we needed a specific size.
We also loved that there were several options with the Revillusion Firebox including different log sets… birch logs and fresh cut logs, which most electric inserts don’t have. There is also the option of choosing a background of weathered concrete or herringbone brick. You can either hardwire you firebox or buy the plug adapter. And this particular model comes in different sizes, so we chose the size that fit our antique mantel.
The first thing we noticed when we turned on our Dimplex Revillusion Firebox was that the flames are larger and brighter than we’ve ever noticed in an electric firebox. I absolutely love that we chose the herringbone brick background as it matches our style so well. AND, it was SO EASY to install.
The flame color is adjustable as well as the background light level. I love the fact that we can use it in the winter to warm up the room and use it in the summer without the heat for the ambiance.
Also… the remote, which also has a timer, is THE BEST since you can do pretty much everything from it.
They also have FREE SHIPPING and FREE RETURNS which means a lot to me when I am ordering anything online. I HIGHLY recommend this Dimplex Revillusion Electric Insert. We LOVE it!

Perfect!
Just gorgeous!
And PLEASE do a post about the door on the side of the fireplace that Deb built.
The insert looks fantastic. And very cozy. I guess I didn’t realize an electric fireplace gives you real flames. I still don’t understand it,but it adds great ambience.
