February Fireplace Mantel Idea

February is a weird month here in Indiana.  We can have 60 degree days and some years we have 2 feet of snow on the ground through March.  Yesterday and today were almost 60 degrees.  And it’s still so dark and dreary.  Yes, the days are getting longer but it’s going a little slow.  ???? I always want it to be Spring immediately after Christmas.  The house feels so cozy with the Christmas lights and then BAM… that’s that.

I vowed to decorate my mantel every month to show you some different ideas for your own mantels or shelves.. or even larger pieces of furniture.  And, since I haven’t had a mantel to decorate for years (because of the television) I am having a blast.  I know this isn’t the ideal situation with the couch setting in front of the mantel, but we do what we have to do.  It’s a rental.  And our storage unit is full. Soooooooo….  I have shared several different looks over the last couple of months so if you are interested, enter the words fireplace mantel in the search box above and they will all pop up for you.

Illuminated Spring Branches – Click here

I was craving the warmth of the white lights that the trees gave at Christmas time.  I found these cute illuminated decorative Spring branches and thought they were perfect addition to my February mantel.  They are propped up inside the ends of a porch column that Deb used for something else.  I couldn’t throw them out.  These branches would even look cute in a bottle, bucket, or vase.   They have a 6 hour timer where you can leave them on a continuous glow, blinking, flashing, etc.  I believe there are five different settings.  I just have mine on the continuous glow.

Deer Head

My deer head made an appearance again.  I just love him.  He is a little scruffy and looks a little tattered, but hey.  So am I.  ???? His ears are a little strange and his face is a little crooked BUT…. he was on clearance at an antique mall last year and I couldn’t pass him up.  I just think he is so cute.  When I tell people I bought him on clearance, they laugh.  He’s a conversation starter, that’s for sure.  If you don’t like the thought of hanging a taxidermy on your walls, they have faux ones that are cute, too.

Candlesticks

I love displaying candle sticks on my mantels for height also.  These candlesticks are from my collection with Antique FarmhouseAntique Farmhouse only have collections for so long so they may no longer be available.  They are made from distressed wood and you know that’s what I’m all about.

Acorns

I’ve had these cute little acorns for a couple of years now.  So, I decided to add them to my February fireplace mantel by displaying them inside a few little ironstone bowls.

I hope this gave you a few ideas for your own fireplace mantel decor. Let me know what you think either in the comments or over here on Instagram or Facebook.
