Five Tips on How to Display and Enjoy your Antique Dishes

Five Tips on How to Display and Enjoy Your Antique Dishes

Tip #1

Display your antique dishes out in the open.

When I have my antique dishes actually displayed on our table, kitchen island, or a buffet, I am more likely to use them. I never worry about breaking one, because more than likely, I will be able to find another piece on Replacements, Ltd. And, again, why have them if you aren’t going to use them.

Tip #2

Use pieces different than their original intent.

I love to add tea light candles in teacups and other pieces while setting the table. It gives the entire space a cozy vibe. And it’s unexpected. I also like to use plain pillar candles in salad bowls or little teacup saucers.

Tip #3

Use a plate rack to display your dinner plates.

I like to do this because it adds a lot of height to your display. It also takes up less room when you can stack things. Replacements, Ltd. actually have a few plate racks that would work perfectly.

Tip #4

Use larger pieces in your collection as a centerpiece.

I decided that I needed a few flowers for the centerpiece on our table and thought this soup tureen worked perfect. I used artificial sprigs but you could easily add some water to one of your bigger bowls or pitchers and display some fresh flowers.

Tip #5

Add a stack of dishes to a cake stand for interest.

This is one of my favorite ways to display my antique dishes and also give them some height. Add a stack of them to an old cake stand. Replacements, Ltd. have several white cake pedestals that I have my eyes on.
