Happy New Year – 2022

Do you even believe it?  it’s 2022.  I was thinking a few weeks back how the year 2,000 seems like 5 years ago.  All of the babies born in the year 2,000 have already graduated high school, possibly college, and are already at legal drinking age.  I cannot even believe it!

I have had several emails from people asking where we have been because we basically dropped off the face of the Earth here in this space.  If you don’t follow us on social media, you would have no clue what has been going on.  So I thought I would start this first post of the new year out explaining not only where we have been.  But, also explaining what my plans are moving forward in 2022.

How we rang in the New Year

We started the new year out with a big bang!  Literally.  We both got a raging case of Covid.  We have avoided it this long and it finally got us.  And, I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone.  I truly think we had the old strain, Delta.  Because it kicked our butts for over two weeks.  I am on Day 16 of this garbage dump devil virus and I am JUST NOW feeling better.  Deb is a few days behind me so she still has lots of sinus issues and felt heavy in the chest yesterday.  If you want to see the progression of what our symptoms were, I have a few high lights about it over on Instagram.  You can find them under Covid 1 and Covid 2.

What’s Planned for 2022

I had SO MUCH planned beginning Jan 1, 2022.  But, as you can see, that didn’t happen.  It’s still going to happen, just maybe a few days later than expected.  I set several goals for the new year and so far, I have been doing well with a few.  But, Covid allowed a much easier transition into those.  ????

Dry January

This is something that I had planned to do just to reset everything.  I thought it may be a little challenging because I love sitting down at night with a glass of wine.  Having Covid helped me accomplish this little goal of mine pretty easily.  ????   I started showing symptoms on December 26, so I just started early with the no drinking idea.  I did, however, have a glass of wine two nights between then and now simply for anxiety reasons.  The anxiety with Covid is real.  The wine helped. I forgave myself because of the circumstances.  And figured I started a few days early, so all is well.

Healthy Eating

Due to this wonderful stage of life, menopause has done a real number on me.  I have gained several pounds over the last couple of years and I want to work hard on changing some things about my diet to get those off.  Again, Covid threw me right into that.  I think I have lost some weight because I simply couldn’t eat.  I am taking this time to keep the changes going.  I will be following a Mediterranean eating plan.  It is best for people with thyroid problems and unbalanced hormonal issues.  I plan on sharing lots of different healthy recipes this year, but that eating plan is highly focused on fruits, veggies, beans, nuts, seeds, and seafood.  I love the idea because it doesn’t take any of the food groups out of your eating plan.

Workouts

The fact of the matter is that I feel so much better when I work out.  I feel stronger and have more energy.  We have a little gym all set up here at the cottage in the garage.  We have a MYX Bike and a bunch of weights.  My goal is to work out 4 times a week which seems to be my number.  I was doing really well until Covid hit, so I need to start working my way back up.  So this is also a goal of mine.

Mindset Monday

I am a big Monday lover.  And I haven’t always been.  When I worked a normal 9-5, Mondays were the worst.  So I understand.  BUT, I do know going into Monday with a different mindset is a must.  Go into them with an attitude of its a new week, so it’s time to RESET and RESTART your goals.  If you messed up last week or you did poorly on some of your new goals, start fresh today.  Don’t let a bad attitude set the tone for the entire week.  We all make mistakes.  Monday is the start of the week of brand new opportunities.  You never know what life will bring you this week!

Trashed Tuesday

We are still going to be sharing our weekly Trashed Tuesday projects. But it will be started again next week.  Deb is just not ready to start back into the swing of things yet.  I will have a post sometime soon of our last project that happened right before the holiday so I didn’t have time to get that posted here.  I think you will love it.  So, be watching for that.

What’s Up Wednesday

I will be checking in with a lot of my friends all around social media for What’s Up Wednesdays.  More than likely, I will be sharing new healthy recipes that I am trying, any DIY projects, and other fun things.  I like to find people who inspire me so I thought it would be good to pass them along to you too.  I will, of course, share everything I can over here as well.

Thursday and Friday

I want to do something with Thrift store finds and dupes but we haven’t gotten all of that ironed out yet.  I am just going to tell you to keep watching social media stories and here.  Because I plan on sharing it all both places.

New House Coming in 2022

And of course, I will be sharing ALL OF THE THINGS when the building starts.  Which we talked to the builder and he thinks he can start February or March.  We are dying to get this going.  I will be sharing the layout here soon.  If you missed the first post on what the outside will be like, I shared that here.

New Website Coming in 2022

I believe I’ve mentioned my new website.  That will be coming here in the next couple of months.  The girl is already working on it.  She had me create a Pinterest board of things that spoke to me.  It turned out so pretty.  I randomly chose photos and they all blended so well.  Check it out.   Also… make sure to sign up for the delivery of my posts and newsletters to our inbox.  You don’t want to miss anything.

Here is to making 2022 the best yet!  I know that it started out a little rough for us, but things are looking up!

  • I'm so excited for all you have planned. Your account is ALWAYS a huge inspiration! Glad you're both feeling better!

  • So glad you're feeling better. For some reason, you guys aren't showing up on my IG feed anymore. I'm going to go like and comment on lots of posts hoping that you'll be back in my algorithm. You guys are such an inspiration in more ways than one. Keep kicking ass and keep laughing! We just adore you both!

  • Happy to see you back. Tired of the adds on your instagram. Want to see more of thrift store finds and decorating.
And found a set of doors at Bob Bon Vintage in Sarasota Florida. They unloaded a semi full in the fall from Europe, Asia, India, etc,
I used the oven cleaner process to strip them. Can’t believe how well it worked. Have remodelers coming to hang them on a barn door track.

  • Hey - welcome back!! I hope that you both are feeling 100% better and ready to kick butt in 2022. I believe if we lived closer we would be best friends cause I love wine and a good junk shop.

Question - I am on the fence about getting the MYXII bike. How comfortable is the seat?

Take Care - love your blog/instragram/etc.

  • Thanks for posting the house plans. From what I could tell they look great. But when I enlarged each space to read it was too blurry to read the details. Any chance there may be a clearer image included in the next blog? I’d really love to see it in detail.
