How to Make a Small Porch Cozy

This post is sponsored by Bed Bath & Beyond and ShopStyle Collective.  All opinions are my own.

Guess what… it’s the moment we have been waiting for… decorating one of the porches on the new house.  Are we in the house yet?  No.  Do we have a few more months until we get to move?  Yes!  But, I am working with Bed Bath & Beyond today and I wanted to share how to make a small porch cozy.  And what better porch to make cozy other than the screened porch on the new house.  Again, this space is not finished and it may not even stay this way.  But I wanted to share this small porch, because small spaces are so much easier to make cozy than larger spaces.  I will be sharing that in the future, too, as our front porch is roughly 10′ x 25′.

Bed Bath & Beyond has so many cool items to make any space cozy from indoor/outdoor rugs, patio furniture, throw pillows, curtains, etc.  They have just about everything.  I happened to grab everything I needed to spruce up this small porch at Bed Bath & Beyond.

So keep scrolling on how I made our small screened porch cozy.

How to Make a Small Porch Cozy

Step 1:  Start with a Rug

I am going to take you from the ground up because I always start with a rug.  I found this gorgeous neutral Bee & Willow rug and it adds so much texture.  Texture is something I like to focus on since I have so many different shades of whites and creams.  It helps spaces not look so boring.  This rug has many shades of browns and creams which match my woods and whites theme that I love so much in our area.  It is also an indoor/outdoor rug which is perfect for all spaces.  I ALMOST bought this cute Liora Manne Honeycomb Bee Indoor / Outdoor rug to layer on top of it!  I still may grab that.

Step 2:  Add Oversized Furniture

These Bee & Willow Adirondack chairs are perfect for coffee hour, reading a magazine, having cocktails, or just relaxing after working all day.  We have several of these Polywood chairs in different styles.  They will never need to be painted and can withstand all types of weather.  These particular ones come in several colors and are really comfy.

Step 3:  Side Tables and Stool are a Must

I grabbed this Safavieh Remi Stool and thought it would make a little side table.  You could use this for a small stool, side table, or even a foot stool.  Again… this stool adds so much texture and comes in two different colors.  I would definitely add something to my little side table like this braided placemat for under your decor.  It again.. adds lots of great texture.

Step 4:  Throw pillows and Candles

Of course, I add cozy throw pillows to everything.  I linked a few below that would work in a space like this.  I have had these off-white ones in my stash for a while now but wanted to give you options. And don’t forget to add a candle to every space, including all outdoor spaces and small porches.

If you noticed, I start from the biggest items to the smallest, too.  It’s a trick I use to keep my brain from going too fast and going into overload which doesn’t take much.

I rounded up all types of items from Bed Bath & Beyond to make your own small porches cozy!  Click the pictures below for direct links.

  • I Love how you decorated your little porch!!! Can you give me some good ideas for a uncovered patio that is roughly 12x20 other than a large dinning glass table and 2 chairs and then 2 matching side tables with 4 chairs 2 chairs one on each side of the side tables and a unbrella in the middle of the large table and a rug underneath it!! I don’t put pillows out because of no cover and I used to and then it would rain in the night and I ruined too many pillows!! HELP ME!!!
