If you missed my post on how I’m setting goals differently in 2019, you may want to read that first. In a nutshell, I am focusing on ONE thing and one thing only each month to change. Because old ladies ???????? get set in their ways, it’s hard to change a million things at once. Therefore, I made a list of different things I want to completely eliminate from my diet, or add to my daily routines and will change slowly over the course of the year. It will be easier for me because obviously what I’ve done in the past hasn’t worked. I gave up three days in. ???? . That brings me to my January Health Goal.
I LOVE COFFEE. I mean I don’t understand how anyone can function without it . And since we have the best coffee maker in the universe, it makes it more fun to drink! Back in January 2018, we followed the Whole30 plan for most of the month. There is no sugar or dairy allowed. Therefore, I familiarized myself with Nutpods coffee creamer. Basically it’s almond and coconut milk which is allowed on that program. I slipped up a few months into the new year and started using my janky creamer that is filled with tons of sugar and nasty chemicals.
Well, I have been keeping a secret from you all this month because I really did start my January Health Goal. I ditched my nasty chemical filled coffee creamer for Nutpods again. If I don’t have Nutpods, I have been drinking my coffee black. While I still think sugary creamer in my coffee tastes mighty delicious, ???? I have noticed a few things that aren’t happening since switching to Nutpods. I used to finish my coffee and be RAVENOUS…. like I was ready to eat a HUGE breakfast. My sugar levels spiked high first thing in the morning with the coffee creamer and I could tell as soon as they started dropping. STARVING. Since drinking my coffee black or using Nutpods, I don’t have that sugar drop. Therefore, allowing me to eat smaller portions for breakfast and even eating later in the morning. Which if you are doing any intermittent fasting, that’s a good thing. ????
If you think about it, not only will I feel better from the more stable sugar levels, but all of the calories that I was consuming in my beloved half creamer half coffee will be saved. And, that’s a WIN/WIN in the term of long term goals. That alone should show a few poundages gone. I will keep you updated on how this coffee situation has gone when I check in with you on February 1 and share what my next goal is. I have my life planner marked with all of the changes I want to accomplish this year and I really feel like this will work better for me.
Have you guys done anything like this? Or are you a go-full-force type of a person? Let me know in the comments. You can always find me over on Facebook or Instagram ….. where we have more fun than one should be allowed to have. ????

I have a similar goal after realizing dairy is not my friend. I add coconut milk and a bit of coconut palm sugar or date syrup with a dash of pure vanilla. As hard as I try, I just can’t drink my coffee black.
Best of luck reaching your health goals!!!
Thank you so much. I may add something like this later on down the line. Someone is sending me a healthy creamer recipe. I will for sure share.
My gosh – you are the ONLY person I have ever heard use the term “janky creamer” except for me and my daughter!! This is why I love you!
I’m attempting to go with heavy cream rather than my beloved amaretto creamer (keto). Going to start adding a little collagen too. But the jank – it is my true love!!
hahahaha Mine too. I love it, but I’m totally living without it.
I can only go all in!! Can’t half ass it, it’s all ass or no ass at all ????. For me it’s too easy to slip back into old habits.
Good for you. I just give up because I forget what I’m supposed to be doing. LOL
We have been making our own creamer for a few years now with coconut oil (we use MCT oil as well if we have it on hand) and it tastes yummy! Like Hersey’s chocolate syrup from the can. I will message you the recipe graphic????????
OMG. yes….. Can you do me a favor and email me? My messages are so out of control and I want to make sure I see it. thehouseonwinchester@aol.com
I’m dropping the creamer also and currently using heavy cream. I’ve noticed I’m drinking way less coffee???
Yes… that’s how I am with drinking it black, too…. Way less.
I always used to drink my coffee black, until my husband decided that he liked his coffee better when it’s so strong you can stand the spoon up in it???? That’s when I started using delicious flavoured creamers. I want to ditch them too, I need to find a healthy replacement, I may have to try your Nutpods.
hahahahahahha That’s a good way to describe strong coffee.
I’ve always gone full steam ahead with a ridiculous number of resolutions. Truthfully it’s never worked but I’m gonna read your last post & implement this new technique today. Thanx so much for idea
Keep me posted. I really feel so much more hopeful about this way. So far so good on the coffee creamer. It’s like I only have the energy anymore to focus on one thing. ????
Coffee ☕️ my love. I’ve always had it with half and half or steamed milk. Then I discovered Italian sweet cream and realized after about a year that I have an addiction and must have in my house! I’ve tried to give it up but it hopeless. It’s my happy place! Maybe next month…..????
hahahah I hear ya. Notice I didn’t give up wine my first month. ????
I actually started changing my ways on Oct 7th ???????????????????????? I just went full force…and I somehow have made it through Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthday parties, New Years and my 52nd birthday…and am down 31.8 lbs! Coffee has never been my thing…I know but before you start throwing things at me lol I tried liking it…I really did haha I tried it every way you can have it and I just don’t like it ???? but I did love pop ???????? like a lot and that was my coffee so can somewhat relate. I just love you ladies! You got this and if this way works for you that’s all that matters…Progress is progress in whatever journey we’re trying to accomplish ???? I might try this method with my house ???? I’ll take one room at a time and see if that helps and maybe change my hoarder ways ????????
HAHAHAHA Congratulations on your loss. That’s fantastic. And yes. I really feel like if we are overwhelmed it’s best to take things slow. I’m doing sooooo much better with coffee than I ever thought I would. But I think it’s because it’s the only thing I am focusing on currently. Soon to be a new goal.
Oh I have been through this… I was so addicted to those Non-dairy creamers… it was the first thing I thought about when I opened my eyes in the morning ???? mmmmm my sweet sweet coffee! But I hated feeling like I “needed it”, and I decided to quit drinking it and coffee too..(I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT!! ) lol. I was literally ill for 2 weeks straight… head ache, dizzy, foggy brain… I felt car sick all day long. That was a few years ago… I started drinking coffee again, with just almond milk and sometime a Torani Sugar free syrup. And I can go days without coffee now and not even notice… so I’m thinking that my “withdrawals” was from the creamer and it’s hydrogenated oils and sugar… ???????? so sad that something so yummy can be so bad for you! Hopefully you won’t have any withdrawals like me!!! I feel much better now that I don’t “need” that sweet creamy goodness every day… do I sound like I miss it ???????? lol… I do sometimes!
hahahhah OMG… that’s how I felt. I just wanted my brown coffee and would drink my first cup like water. It was DELISH…. BUT, I’m over it, thank goodness.
