Last Minute Antique Haul

Deb and I both needed a day to not think about anything creative.  That meant house planning, work related things, projects, etc.  We just wanted a LET’S NOT THINK OF ANYTHING type of day.  Do you ever need those?  We don’t do it quite often, but this time of year, in the middle of planning for a house, and a few other things I cannot talk about quite yet, gets insane.  So, we decided to go to the Markle Antique Mall in Markle, Indiana and browse.  If you watched over on social media stories, you got to see lots of my favorite booths.

I bought a few fun antique pieces to add to my decor because I am replacing some of my other items that I no longer want.  I may see if one of our girls want them.  Let’s move on to what we found on our last minute antique haul yesterday.

Last Minute Antique Haul

Large Wooden Tray, Drying Rack, and Open Sign,

This large antique wooden tray will be so fun to display in the middle of the bar, coffee table, or dining table.  I have so many ideas and cannot wait to incorporate this.

I LOVE incorporating antiques within my decor that we actually use.  Deb absolutely fell in love with this clothes drying rack.  We are hanging this here in the cottage because I air dry some of my shirts so they are usually hanging out in odd places.  So this will be perfect for us.   It will then, of course, be taken to our new house once it’s built.

The very first thing I saw when I walked in the door was this OPEN sign.  How cool is this?   I put it in the cart and thought about whether I wanted it or not.  Well, I made up my mind and obviously bought it. I know exactly where I am going to hang it.

Lighted Cottage

This is the cutest ever.  I don’t believe it is old but it looks like it. I am going to white wash the outside of the house which is currently green to go with all of my woods and whites.  It has a hole cut into the back of it so that you can add a nightlight.  Which I may do.  Many of you don’t know this, but Deb made a big two story house like this and gave it to a friend years ago.  She added stained glass in the windows so this remind me of that.

Antique Sponge Ware

Of course, I had to pick up some of my favorite antique sponge ware.  It is getting harder and harder to find.  When I see pieces at a great price, I always grab them.  I found a pitcher, bowl, and a spittoon. ????  I know that it is gross to some people, including Deb, but I have never seen one of them before.  And, you should have figured out by now, that I am going to slap a Christmas tree down in it for now.

Antique Hand Weight and Vintage Breat/Cutting Boards

Do you remember when we found antique hand weights on another antique haul?  Well, of course, I had to add this one.  We are going to have a small workout room in the basement of our house.  So these will be perfectly displayed in there.  I am quite obsessed with them.  I just find them fascinating and love thinking about how they were made and who used them throughout the years.  And I grabbed this stack of old bread/cutting boards.  I have several in my collection but these smaller ones are just adorable and they were a great price.

I love sharing my antique finds with you.  Be watching for posts on where these land.  Better yet, follow along on Instagram and Facebook too, so you can get a sneak peek before I post it here.

  • My haul wasn’t quite on the same line, but how did I miss the OPEN sign?? How neat!!! Love the house too. Been on the lookout for those.????‍♀️ All in all a fun day for me too!!

    • You missed the OPEN sign because it was when we first walked in and I snatched that up immediately. ???? Yes...we had a very fun day.

  • Hi, I have a drying rack exactly like the one you purchased. I cannot figure out how to hang it, though. I suspect I may have a missing piece because when I hang it from the top, the entire thing slides down the back brace. Could you tell me how you hung yours, please and thank you!
