Several years ago, we found the coolest window at the Springfield Ohio Flea Market. The guy we bought it from had four. And he said they were out of an old church. I fell in love with the details around the top of the window. So, we ended up buying one, and I believe he sold it to us for $100. When we got it home, we had no clue what we wanted to do with it. Every day, I would walk out into the garage and stare at it… trying to get a game plan. It finally came to me. I wanted Deb to make a leaning mirror out of this piece. Well, our mirror made from a church window landed in the house recently. And, I think we found the perfect place for it.
As you know, we have been moving for what seems like forever. Actually, it may be the longest move in history. We started moving over to the house around mid December. And here we are, mid February still moving things from the cottage. We got this mirror that we made from a church window over here several weeks ago. It has been leaning on the bedroom wall ever since. As we started thinking about what we want in the bedroom as far as furniture, the mirror had to find another place to be.
Right out side of the bedroom is a small hallway. I dreamt of putting a piece of furniture in this space but it would have to be very shallow. And, it would really take a lot of searching to find it, which I’m not opposed of doing. The mirror is the perfect size for this space and really dressed up this wall.
As soon as I saw the mirror leaning against the wall in the hallway, I knew something had to be hung on each side. Because you should know by now that I love a full look in our decor. We grabbed this set of old shutters from the storage unit that we have had for years. You may remember them in the House on Winchester. I had them hanging there as well.
We attached the shutters directly to the wall beside the mirror. And I hung these non-electric sconces that I got through our storefront on each shutter. Since they aren’t hardwired, I tucked a battery operated candle down inside of them. The candles have timers so they will come on every night at the same time.
I am so happy with how this hallway turned out. I shared a reel over on social media and had several comments that this area is giving New Orleans vibes. Which I am totally here for. Because I LOVE the look and feel of New Orleans.

I love every single thing about this! You’ve given me an idea too to light up a pair of antique crystal covered sconces I have as well that I don’t want to hardwire. They mirror is to die for!
