Old Pier from Lake – Upcoming Project

There are so many advantages of living in a small town.  There are a few disadvantages, too, but we don’t focus on those.  When you live in a small town, everyone knows your business.  That can work as an advantage.  Did you see the huge pieces of concrete that we grabbed a few days back.  We only got those because people know our business.  They know we love things like that.  Well… a few months back, someone messaged me through Facebook and said they had an old pier.  They took it from their lake and just figured someone would want it.  And she thought of Deb and I and said we could just have it.  We finally ran and picked it up last week!  And, we have a few ideas for this old pier for some upcoming projects we have planned.

Old Pier from Lake – Upcoming Project

This old pier is roughly 8′ long and a little over 3′ wide.   I asked Deb if she was interested… just having this feeling she would say no.  I told her that we could use it as a step going up to our chicken coop which is 8′ wide because I thought it would be perfect for that.  She immediately said yes.  But she had a few different ideas.   We have a hair over 5 acres of property.  There were a few low spots where water used to stand.  So clear back in May of 2020, the construction guys ran a bucket width trench through the property where the natural drainage of the land was.  I think Deb actually needs to dig it out again and make it a bit deeper.  Anyway, it looks like a dry creek bed (until it rains) and it actually worked.   BUT… we want to jazz that dry creek bed up.

Soon, we will be bringing in loads of stone and get the dry creek bed all cleaned up.  Deb’s idea was to add this little pier over the dry creek bed as a little walking bridge which will be incorporated into one of the paths.  She also had the idea of adding it to the creek the separates her sister’s property from ours.  It would lead to where The Squatter’s Camp is located.  I kind of like the idea of it being over the dry creek bed but we will see.   I think it will work perfectly for any of those things.  It is in pretty good condition and I was so glad we were contacted about it.  So stay tuned for this old pier popping up in one of our upcoming projects!

Comment below if you have any other ideas for this old pier!
