I have been giving lots of updates of the new house over on social media stories but I haven’t done much updating here. If you receive and read our newsletter, then you may know a little more. Because I tend to share a lot there as well. I did update you on the entire house a few months back but really nothing else exciting has happened since. Also.. if you missed the update on the exterior of the house, I talked about that here. I regularly get asked about all of the items that we will be using for the house. The finishing part is the most fun: lighting, vanities, sinks, faucets, ceiling fans, etc. I figured it would be fun to add all of the sources for our new house here in one post so they are easy for people to find.
As you know, woods and whites are a must. Different tones of whites and creams along with different types of wood tones are very calming to me. I really stay to that color palette. If I add any color at all with home decor, I usually still stick with earth tones. Home decor is easily swapped so I tend to stick with neutrals for the big ticket items.
I found the Trossman vanities by Signature Hardware while searching online and fell in love with them. The warmth of the wood and the simple style is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted both of the vanities in the full bathroom to match so I ordered the 72″ for our bathroom and the 48″ for the guest bathroom. They are real wood so if I ever want to paint them, I will be able to. Also, when I ordered ours, there were several choices for the sink and the top so I grabbed the white. And I chose gold widespread faucet and a vintage looking shower faucet. I can’t wait to see this all installed.
Here are a few more solid wood vanities that are similar! There are so many different ones that would fit anyone’s style.
The first thing I said when planning the utility room was that I wanted an older looking sink and faucet. Have you ever looked at all of the goodies on Vintage Tub and Bath? Oh my gosh… so many great old looking items. It is where I found the sink and the faucet for the utility room.
When Deb and I went to New Orleans a few years ago, we both fell in LOVE with the gas lights that they have on almost every home and business. I knew I wanted to incorporate them into our new home. To be honest, we ordered our lights from Bevolo a long time ago. They have been in storage and I can barely remember which ones we bought. So it will be a surprise to you and me both. We love them because you can choose either electric or gas. We ended up getting one electric one for the back porch and the rest gas. I am so excited to see them hanging.
Ceiling fans are a little controversial for people. Some don’t like them at all and some people say they are a MUST. Until hot flashes became an every day part of our lives, ceiling fans weren’t our favorite. We LOVE having one here in the bedroom at the cottage and decided that it was a must in the bedroom of our new home. Also, we love ceiling fans on the front porch, not only for the look, but for the functionality. The fans that we picked out for the porches and the bedroom look like old propellors which I thought were cool.
We decided that the ones in the upstairs guest rooms will need a light and the one in our bedroom won’t.
And the fan on the screen porch will have a light and the fans on the other porches will not. We didn’t need them as we added little puck lights in the ceiling.
These white and gold sconces are the lights that I am so thrilled to see hung. I knew that I wanted sconces over each window and a sconce over the utility room window. Pretty much all of our lighting in the house are antiques. I knew I would never find 4 matching antique sconces so I started searching for replicas. These wall sconces are hand made from clay and will look perfect with our woods and whites theme. You can get them in plug-ins or hardwired. I heard from several people over on social media who have these and and you said you LOVED them.
We have an antique chandelier we are hanging in the upstairs guest bathroom, but I wanted a sconce over the mirror. I also wanted it to be really pretty but a little more budget friendly because we won’t be up there. So, of course, I searched Amazon and found the perfect one. It is gold and pretty simple and will match our chandelier well.
We have a window right in the middle of the guest bathroom wall and I envisioned a freestanding tub there. And I think this one will be fantastic. The bathtub faucet has an attached sprayer for convenience.
I wanted one large sink like we had in our old house and the cottage. We think these work best for us. And I am in love with unlacquered brass faucets and found this one on Etsy. The owner of the shop actually made our smaller hard water faucet the size I wanted. He was very easy to work with.
I chose this sliding shower door because I think it will look spectacular with the gold chandeliers that we have for our main floor bathroom. It comes in a few different colors as well.
I know this may be a strange thing to share with you, but I truly get requests for links to our toilets. We have had these in our last couple of homes and truthfully, I think they are pretty. As pretty as toilets can be, I guess.
Let me know if I forgot anything.

Your house is going to be beautiful! Can’t wait!
Thank you. I’m so excited to see everything come together.
I am so excited about your house….so fun now that it’s coming together, and I’m not paying the bills! Love y’all!
Lol that is funny. We have loved watching the process! It has happened so fast and soon we will be in there! Can’t wait!
The only thing that bugs me as you really get going on your house (after the floors harden), I’ll be stuck on a cruise ship heading to the Panama Canal. Sucks to be me. Hopefully we’ll get Wi-Fi from time to time so I can check in.
Don’t have too much fun without me. Bet you’re feeling sorry for me now…
Boo hoo! No, you have fun on your cruise. That sounds lovely! I am sure we will have a lot of exciting updates when you get back! Enjoy!
Can you share your source for your interior doors? Are they all solid wood? It’s all so beautiful!
Thank you. And we got them from an actual door company around our area.
Love everything! What did you use for the shower walls?
