All Things Bathroom

The Curtains and Blinds in our Guest Bathroom

When we moved into our new home, we basically moved slowly. I’m not sure if you remember.  We stayed here in our home as soon as we could and moved all of the basics in.  However, we had a storage unit full of treasures and we had Deb’s workshop full of our every day essentials since it’s where we lived for almost 2 years.  We brought over a load and organized it right away.  The main level has been filled with furniture and decor since the beginning but the upstairs hasn’t. Well it’s time!  I want the upstairs to feel like the main level.. full and cozy. This past weekend, we started working on this little project.  Simply hanging the curtains and the blind in the guest bathroom made a huge difference already.

The Curtains and Blinds in our Guest Bathroom

We actually hung this motorized wooden shade awhile ago for privacy for the guests who stay here.  We don’t have many guests but we have our regulars like my daughter who lives 3 hours away, my sister who lives in North Carolina, and Deb’s brother and sister-in-law who live 2 hours away.  They stay here when they come to visit for one reason or another.  This motorized blind works perfectly in this spot as it allows us the ease of opening and closing it without getting into the bath tub. It comes in a few different colors.  This is the Cape Brownstone which is a medium brown that isn’t too cool or too warm. Like I said, that has been hanging for quite some time.  But we had no decor so it was terribly boring and cold.

I found these curtains and LOVE them. Originally I bought them for our bedroom for a change, but decided to hang them in the guest bathroom instead.  The colors match my style so well.  They come in so many different colors, styles, and lengths.  And, they are great quality.  We used the same curtain rod that we have in the rest of our rooms. It’s a simple gold one that is excellent quality and very substantial.  This, in itself, made a huge difference in the guest bathroom.

What else will we do to the guest bathroom?

We like to focus all of our attention outside during the summer months so this room will get another makeover this fall and winter.  I want to add some texture to this room with wood and with wallpaper. But for now, it’s simply going to get some decor. I have a shelf in my home decor room that I’ve always loved but I haven’t found a place for since the old house.  So I’m thinking about using that in here.  And, of course, I will decorate that shelf and make it cozy and warm.  I hope to share this finished room in the next week but wanted to give you a glimpse of how adding a simple curtain and blind can make a big statement.
