We used to do Transformation Tuesday (previously Trashed Tuesday) pieces every single week. And, I loved it. Deb was able to get into her workshop regularly to create a masterpiece out of what would have been thrown away. And, I was able to decorate with something she made. It was a win/win. This series is starting back up and do I have a good one for you today. She transformed an old door and I think it turned out absolutely stunning.
Neither of us can remember where we found this old door. But we both think it was along the side of the road when we lived at the rental. This was long before we were building our home and thought we could use that door somewhere. So we grabbed it and of course, it lived in the storage unit for a few years. Once we built and moved everything here on our property, the door came with us, even though we didn’t want it for our home. We have asked everyone if they wanted it and as you can see, no one took it.
A few weeks back, Deb said she wanted that door gone and said she was going to burn it. However when it came down to it, she couldn’t do it. It had so much character. Plus she had this idea. The top of the door looked like a picture frame. And, she knows how much I love having different frames in our home. I have a collection of antique frames that get seasonal updates which is such an easy way to switch out your artwork. So she cut the door in half, sanded the chunky paint off, and then added a coat of matte based sealer to it. I have plans for the bottom half of the door for next week.
The glass is the original glass from the door that she scraped the paint from and cleaned. And I found a Santa picture and had it printed and think it matches this frame so well. It also matches our decor perfectly. This picture is massive and fits perfectly on our dining room fireplace mantel. This is going to get decorated for Christmas which I will share that look once I’m done.
What do you think of this transformed door? I am so happy with out it turned out?
Here are a few downloadable prints I have for the winter months and a few that I found that I love. This list includes the Santa one in this frame.

The “frame” and Santa pic are stunning. I’m on the hunt for an old door.
Thank you! I am happy with how it turned out.
