Trashed Tuesday: What to do with a Pedestal Table Base

We are starting a thing!  Every Tuesday, we will be sharing a post called, Trashed Tuesday.  If you don’t follow us over on social media, you must.  We have so much fun.  No, we aren’t getting drunk on Tuesdays which is what several people thought when I announced it.  We are actually going to be revamping something that was donated or going to be thrown in the trash.  Basically, giving you a few ideas to repurpose some things in your own home.

Trashed Tuesday is something that we used to do every Tuesday when we owned our storefront.  Our store was called The Tattered Treasures.  We sold it several years back when we realized actually how much back breaking work it was to move furniture around every single day.  We just got so burned out.  AND… we were going to move south, either to Tennessee, North or South Carolina.  But, here we are.  Life took a different path.

People loved the Trashed Tuesday projects so much.  Deb is getting her little temporary workshop set up out in our little garage, so we figured it was a great time.  And, it’s getting colder.  Deb doesn’t sit in the house very well.. she needs projects.  So it’s a win win for all of us.

The very first Trashed Tuesday Project will be made from this pedestal table base that a friend was going to throw out.

What to do with a Pedestal Table Base

Deb and I chatted through what to do with this pedestal table base.  She actually wanted it out of the garage and asked if she should just give it away or worse yet, burn it.  I gave her a ????.  She asked what I wanted her to do and I mentioned either a huge candle stick that I could sit on the floor or a plant stand.  After deciding we would start Trashed Tuesdays with this project, we wanted to come up with something unique.  I have always wanted a little table in the bathroom here in the cottage.  But, it couldn’t be too big or too deep because of the area.  So I asked if she could make one from this by cutting the table base in half.

And that is exactly what she did.  And then gave it a quick coat of paint which is white right off the shelf like our trim.

We have a lot of room between the toilet and the wall so this worked perfect here.  But, like I said, it couldn’t be too deep.  I think it adds just a little extra surface to display some of my collections.  ????

This was the simplest project made from a large pedestal from a table.  You could easily do this with porch columns or really anything.  Also, this is perfect for a really small entry way as a place to catch your keys, change, etc.

I hope this inspires you to look at things differently that would normally be thrown into the trash.  What do you think?  Do you like this little series we are starting?  I am looking forward to more projects, myself.  Deb was planning next week already.

  • I have to admit that I also thought that "trashed tuesdays" meant that you two would be drinking! I love the little table made from the halved pedestal base. It looks really cute and fits the space great. You have a gift of using a lot of decor but not looking cluttered. The crocks are so cute. I also love that you two use white straight off the shelf! It's refreshing that you two use and show decor, projects, etc that are attainable. Keep it up :)

  • Love it! So glad you are going to be doing this on a regular basis. And anything that provides another surface for display or a vignette will pique my interest!

  • I love it! The table is the perfect size! Looking forward to the other projects on Trash Tuesday! Y’all are so talented!!

  • Love you two, your style, creativity, humor, approach to seeing your home’s potential!! Just the BEST????
    Thanks so much…Lisa
