Cozy Winter Decorating Ideas

Cozy Winter DecorCozy Winter Decor

I had this urge to rip down all of the Christmas decor a few days after Christmas.  If I’m being honest, I had to talk Deb out of taking it down a week before.  ????   This little rental (1100 sf) started to feel very overwhelming and full.  I have a lot of “stuff” anyways… add Christmas decor and it puts it completely over the edge.  Besides, this year was just strange.  We all made the most of it but you know..  2020.

When I took down the Christmas decor, I had NO URGE whatsoever to bring in Spring items yet.  And the house felt really bare without anything, because I love my house to feel full.  Full houses feel cozier to me.  So I decided to leave out some of my little pine trees and pine wreaths to give it a winter feel.

I hope you enjoy my unique winter home decor in the living room here at the rental.

Winter Decor in the Living Room

I am only sharing half of the living room with you today.  Because the other half is still Christmasy.  I will be sharing the other side in the next day or two.  But I thought it may give you ideas for Winter decor … between Christmas and Spring.  And, if you didn’t notice, we brought this couch back from the camper last week.  We know it will be several months before we make it to the cottage in the woods so we made that decision.  We were tired of not having a couch to snuggle on.

I bought this tree pillow cover at the beginning of the season and don’t think it screams Christmas, so I decided to leave it out.  I like the way it looks with the darker pillows for Winter.  Normally I keep all of my pillows white or cream but I’m loving theses.  I found the teddy bear pillow covers at Pottery Barn, and the linen ruffle ones at H&M.   If you didn’t hear, I’m switching to all pillow covers for easier storage.

I decided to leave the wreath on the cabinet because it feels Wintery.  We carried these in our storefront when we had that so it’s several years old.  But, I love it.  It’s one of my favorites.

And same with the cute little long needle pine trees.  These will stay out all Winter, also.

I sprinkled a few other small trees around without lights and feel it looks more Winter than Christmas.  I’m loving the feel of it.

Oh… and you may have noticed.  These white columns got a new makeover, too.  I used Fusion Mineral Paint in the color Raw Silk and LOVE it.  They took two coats.  I didn’t sand or have to seal them.

When I think of Winter, I think of cozy pillows and throws, pine trees, candles, etc.  Stay tuned for more Winter decor here in the rental.  I will be sharing soon.
