I am sure some of you can’t believe that we moved into a new home December, 2022. And, here we are messing around and adding things here and there to each room. Well, we kind of set it all up that way. Deb and I wanted to be the ones who got to do the finishing touches on our home. Meaning we both wanted to be a part of the wallpapering, shiplap walls, bead board, etc. So we told the builder to drywall and paint. And, throughout the next year, we will add what we want to each room…. enter the series From Flat to That! Well, that is what we have been working on since Winter arrived. We recently completed (said loosely) another room in our home and I wanted to share it. Here is how we added texture to our laundry room walls.
We recently completed (said loosely again) adding texture to our kitchen. The reason I say “completed” loosely is because we are NEVER done. There are so many more things I want to add to these rooms. But we are slowly inching our way around our home adding texture here and there to the walls and will revisit the other ones when we are ready.
We added bead board wallpaper in the kitchen.
The kitchen fireplace got a makeover with shiplap.
Deb hung shiplap on the walls and the fireplace in the family room.
And most recently, I hung and painted bead board wallpaper on three walls of the laundry room and Deb added the trim and shelves above it. And then I added the shaker pegs to go around the trim to hang decor.
Originally, I wasn’t sure how I wanted to add the bead board wallpaper because I wasn’t sure I would like it all the way to the ceiling. I decided to go for it on the stairway wall and the wall heading into the garage. And, I love it. It added so much needed texture. Even though the walls are still white, it adds a lot.
Note the large blank stairway wall to the left in this above pic. This is what I mean when I say we will be revisiting this room sometimes. I want to add something there but I’m unsure what yet. But adding a little bit of texture here and there to each room makes me happy.
You probably already noticed that I spruced this area up a bit for Christmas. I will be doing an entire tour of our Christmas decor over on social media and here as well the end of the week. So stay tuned for that.

What color and. Rand of paint are you using to work with the warm woods yet not making the walls and trim look too brown or yellow?
We use Sherwin Williams Pure White for everything.
