I know. I know.  Don’t yell. Ha!  I’ve been saying that over on Instagram.  Nobody yell that our Christmas decor is going up so early.  People tend to freak out.  Even though we style seasonal home decor way earlier than normal around here, this is actually a little early for me.  But, I have an excuse.  We have a magazine shoot here in the beginning-mid December.  So I wanted to get a head start because this is the first full home I have decorated in several years.  The last one being the house on Winchester.  I am not even sure what I have to decorate with anymore and what I need.  So that’s another excuse.  To ease into this holiday season, I wanted to start with a woodland look that I can add lights to later.  So, here is a Christmas woodland look in the kitchen.

A Christmas Woodland Look in the Kitchen

We live in a woods so I thought this woodland look made sense.  And, since I’m not a really frilly type of decorator, this seemed appropriate.  My goal is to add pine trees in pretty much every room and then add all of the lights closer to the holiday season.  We moved in mid-December last year so I didn’t have much time to decorate.  I did, however, get a few decorations up for our gathering with the girls that included our kitchen window.  I draped this gorgeous cedar garland around the windows last year.  And, I loved it so much that I did the same thing this year.

This cedar garland looks so realistic.  I’ve had the real stuff and let me tell you, this is so worth the money.  Real garland looks terrible in a week or two.  I used nails on the very top of my trim and zip ties to hold this.  It’s the easiest thing I have found to attach it to windows, etc.

I ended up adding my topiaries on each side of the window that I got this summer which are no longer available.  They look nice in the metal urns, that I made over with European Gold Rub N Buff.  And then I added a crock full of rollings pins and matching night lights on each side of the sink. These night lights are made from old pool table legs that we found on Facebook Marketplace.  You can read about another set of them that we made years ago in this post.

Over on the kitchen island…

I had two of these cute little Christmas trees that I got last year. So I added one on each side of the kitchen island. I started by hanging this fuzzy pompom ribbon which I thought looked like snowballs.  These antique looking bells were in my stash from last year.  I hung them on the trees with velvet ribbon and I love the look.  There are a few different varieties of these bells available, so check them out here.  I did add some clip-on candle lights on these trees which I absolutely love.  I got them years ago.  They are individual candles rather than a string of lights.  And, the actual candle swivels on the clip so that you can always straighten them.  Oh.. and they come with a remote.  They are a little more pricey but like I said, I got them several years back.

What is a tree in the kitchen without gingerbread men?  I hung my little gingerbread ornaments that I made a few years back.  Which, by the way, is such a simple and fun project to do with kids or grandkids.  And, they look really cute.  You can be as creative as you want with them, but I kept mine plain.
