Winter Decor

A Simple Winter Look in the Cottage Kitchen

This past week, I added bits of Christmas here in the cottage kitchen.  I wanted to keep it simple with my life-like trees and garland.. which I happen to be completely obsessed with.  Every time I share them, they sell out.  They are THAT GOOD.  See all of them here!   These cute little life-like trees cost a little more than some.  But they can be added to the front porch decor this summer if maintenance free is your gig.  Let me show you what I did her around the window here in the kitchen.

A Simple Winter Look in the Cottage Kitchen

I started by adding some life-like garland (no longer available) around the window.  Did you know that we will have three large windows above our kitchen sink when we build the house?  I am thrilled for that.  We had two large ones above the sink in our last house in the woods and it makes your kitchen feel so much larger.  The views out the window actually appear to be a picture.  I believe I have told you that we plan on a fireplace in the kitchen as well.  ????  We are still finalizing the plans but I will share once they are done.  Enough on that and moving right along…

After I hung the garland around the window, I added my little salt dough star garland that I made last year.  Do you remember that?  We were in the rental and needed to keep busy because we had nothing to do there.  We need projects.  If you want more crafty ideas, check out these gingerbread ornaments that I made for the tree in the kitchen, these folk art Santa heads, and these vintage looking feather trees.

These cute little life-like trees come in a silver metal pot, but I added them to my matching antique crocks.  Here are a few more that I love if they are out of stock.  And while I was pulling the links, I may have ordered a few more.  ????    We did go through all of our old trees and passed them along to the girls.  So I feel better about that.

And that is it.  I kept it so simple this year because I wanted things to look natural.  I do have another little tree here in the kitchen on the island that I will share soon.  It is filled with my homemade gingerbread ornaments and salt dough stars.  Keep watching for that.

Don’t forget to follow along on Facebook and Instagram.  I usually show more in the moment type of things when decorating but always share here as well.
