We have so many upcoming projects that we are excited about. The top of our list will be to finish The Woods and Ivy Cottage once the drywall gets hung. (They poured the concrete pad yesterday. ????????) In the mean time, we are wrapping up a few other projects around the woods. If you have been following along on social media, you probably have seen our garage we brought in. We are using that for our Polaris and all of our garden items. We created a sidewalk out of old concrete. And then landscaped around it to make it look like it has always been there. We installed a few fence panels behind the garage for a little more privacy. And, we poured the pad for an antique lamp post that we brought from the old house.
The weather here in Ohio is absolutely beautiful this week. Therefore, we decided it was the perfect time to complete this antique lamp post project.
We brought two antique lamp posts from our old property to install in the woods. But, we had no clue where we wanted them. Once we finished the landscaping around the garage, we found the perfect place for one.
I absolutely love the patina on old cast iron lamp posts because they have so much character.
Since we only have temporary power in the woods, Deb wired this lamp post as a plug-in for the time being. It will eventually be hardwired, of course. But, we wanted to enjoy it now.
I have had this dream of having our driveway lined with several antique lamp posts. But they are getting harder and harder to find. A few weeks back I was browsing Craigslist and saw a guy was selling SEVEN of them. ???? YES, I said seven. He told us they came from a college campus in his area. Our friends who bought our old house are buying two from us, so we will have 5 to do the driveway project sometime next year. They don’t all match but I actually love the idea of having them all different. ????
I am so happy how this project turned out. And, I think it just added that extra little touch to that garage area to make it seem like it’s always been! Stay tuned for all of the fun to come!
