If you are new here to this little space, I try to give you a fireplace mantel idea every month. I haven’t been able to decorate a fireplace for years. We had our television above it the last two homes. So, I’m having so much fun switching this one out every month. If you want to see the last couple fireplace mantels that I decorated, enter the words “fireplace mantel” in the search bar up top and they will all pop up.
First off… We ran down to Indianapolis a few weeks back and stopped at Ikea. I wanted another couch cover to switch out on our Ikea Ektorp sofa. I originally bought the color Lofallet Beige but wanted a white one just for a different look. So I started by switching that out for a change.
OK… let’s get to the April fireplace mantel.
I put up a question box over on Instagram stories asking you what type of decoration styles or things you wanted to see. One of the things was all different decor on a buffet or fireplace mantel. Every month, I’ve decorated my fireplace mantel symmetrical, which means you have pretty much the exact same things on each side of a main piece. This month’s mantel, I grouped “like” things together rather than using the same things on each side, just to see if I could do it. ????
I started with a big piece in the middle, which in this case is my rabbit print. I’m still loving it. And for only $7, you can download and have it printed at Walgreens like I did. And, then I framed it in an antique frame. I’ve shared it many times before but I still love it so much. I did find a few other cute prints that I may purchase for Summer.
I wanted to add a bunch of plants and greenery. Because, that’s what I think of when I think Spring…. plants, flowers, rabbits, eggs, etc. So I kept with that theme. I chose containers for those things that all were right around the same colors. I received this set of floppy baskets from Afloral. They come in a set of three and they add so much texture. They are perfect for setting plants inside, or even using them for fruit or displaying faux eggs in decor. I added a small fiddle leaf fig tree on one side for some height. I love the green against the antique gold frame. And, I set that in one of those baskets. The ironstone pitchers are both that creamy white hue, which match the baskets, so I just added a few faux thistle flowers.
I placed a taller candle stick and added a greenery bush to another white ironstone pitcher tie in the other side. This greenery bush looks so real. It’s light and airy and I love to face a lot of the leaves toward the window so it looks even more real. And, then filled another one of those floppy baskets with antique wooden white eggs. I believe they were used when hens weren’t laying maybe…???? or maybe because they were pecking their own eggs…. I have no clue. But I loved them and display them quite often.
I added another big faux plant from Afloral in front of the window just to give this space some extra happiness.
I hope this gave you some inspiration for your own fireplace mantel.

Very pretty! The faux plants really add a spring touch! I go to the Indy Ikea!
I have now learned to leave my husband at home, he hates that stores layout!
He bitched the whole time! We went to buy an ektorp chair that we were told was in stock. It was not! It was an awful experience, so now I still do not have the chair! That was a year ago! Grrrr
