Back Deck on the Cottage

We have been SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO busy around the property.  If you don’t follow us along on social media, why don’t you?  ????  We have been sharing a lot over there, so if you are on Facebook or Instagram, check us out.  Anyway, there has been so much going on that I haven’t had time to catch you all up.  The Squatter’s Camp is nearly done.  The boys have been working every day and working so fast that I haven’t had the chance to snap as many photos as I have wanted.  But, I will be sharing here in the next day or two how the siding, the roof, and the floor turned out.  And then we will have a big reveal of the entire area.  He has some other things up his sleeve he is doing.

We are full into several other projects that will soon be shared here, too.  They include our porch swing pergola that we created last weekend.  We are working on the brick pad that we will be laying underneath the swing using old street bricks, the landscaping around it, and so much  more.  So stay tuned for all of that.

Back Deck on the Cottage

I have told you many times that we LOVE to create lots of outdoor seating areas.  We just love to have many options to hang out.  Ever since we planned this cottage, we knew we would love our front porch, but wanted a place in back to be nestled directly in the woods.  And we just thought a deck would be perfect.

The deck was started and completed this week from a contractor that we had called a few weeks back.  Since we decided that we want all of our structures to be as low maintenance as possible, we chose a composite material, TimberTech, in the color Pecan.  It has a bit of warmth to it, which I wanted, since the cottage is black and white.

We originally planned on a step all the way around the 14′ x 16′ deck, but the land slopes.  In order to not have to have a lot of dirt hauled in, we decided to put the steps just on the end.  We will then moved a bit of dirt around the edges so there is one step down on the sides.

Patio Furniture

You may remember this table and chair set from the last house. (unavailable)  We actually have something else in mind but we grabbed this from storage so that we would have a place to set.  We think we are switching this table out for a round one.  And, also maybe getting a sofa and two chair set that we saw and fell in love with.  I want to add a rug which I already have picked out and an umbrella for the table.

And I think I want Deb to make a buffet type table like she did at the old house out of scrap boards.  It would work perfectly here for some decor and or drinks when we have people over.

I LOVE how this back deck at the cottage turned out and cannot wait to get this area decorated.  Stay tuned for all of the projects and all of the updates.
