Believe it nor not, it’s officially the big bathroom reveal day. Yay!!!! But, if you’ve been following me along on Instagram, you have already seen a glimpse of this bathroom makeover.
This room is one of my favorite transformations in our entire home. You won’t even recognize it.
Do you remember the “Ugly Duckling” story? A poor little ugly barn yard bird was born and sadly suffered abuse by all of his peeps because of the way he looked. Much to his delight and all of the other birds, he turned into a beautiful swan.
You know I don’t like to poop up a reveal day with a case of the uglies, so if you missed the post about our sad abused ugly duckling bathroom, pop back a few posts. Poor little thing.
But, much to my delight, and the rest of my peeps, it turned into a swan.
First off, this bathroom door originally belonged in an old brick building in our home town that was torn down a few years back as it was far beyond repair. Check out the original mail slot. Love!
The now demolished building had 3 floors of pure awesomeness – original chippy tin ceilings with the original detailed tin crown moulding, gorgeous bead board, and so many gorgeous doors as this. I just wish I could go back in time and see all that was.
I posted a step-by-step tutorial yesterday on how I accomplished turning the original clear glass of this door into an antique looking mirror. It is a really simple DIY project that anyone can do….even YOU!
Ok now, I will try to be quiet now and go picture happy.
We added the knotty pine boards as a wall of interest behind the antique buffet turned vanity, and painted the walls my favorite shade of white. And, of course, we installed our most favorite flooring in the whole wide world: inexpensive pine board flooring.
Deb installed the antique pendant lighting which I scored at a garage sale for $10 each!
The ginormous mirror was originally bright gold, which I toned down with my favorite color of paint!
I get lots of questions on what is in that green box on the vanity and where I found my pendant lighting.
Not only is it a cool old tool box that’s perfect for make-up organization, but I found it for a few dollars at a garage sale. And, same with the lights. $10 each ????
Aren’t these sinks the coolest things ever?
I wanted double sinks – SHINY SILVER sinks, in particular. I carried my Pinterest inspiration picture around forever on my phone, and searched high and low.
Being trapped in the house in the middle of a blizzard here in Indiana, meant it was the perfect time to shop online for my shiny silver sinks. It seems like I searched for 62 hours (probably more like 4) and found several options for $1.5 million and up.
Um….I don’t think so.
“One more search and I give up….”
And, up popped these babies and, believe it or not, they were in my budget. I nearly died.
the wifey made this pretty sweet night-light, which just so happened to fit perfectly into the bathroom decor. Everyone needs a night-light in their bathroom, so why not make it a pretty one!
If you follow me on Instagram, you already know this, but I love a good collection! This “bouquet” of antique celluloid hand mirrors is certainly one of my favorites.
So, If you noticed, I can only stay quiet for so long, which therefore leads me to a story. There is always a story.
I had a horrible virus and coughed up my lung a few weeks back. My voice was completely gone. I used as much sign language as I know (which isn’t much) and then the wifey made this comment,
“It is so nice and quiet around here.”

Hey Danelle!! I can't remember what you said you did to the top of your buffett vanity double sink to protect it from water. I searched high and low on your blog and can't find it!! Can you share again please!!
I used the poly we used on our floors. It was the quick drying Minwax poly especially for floors
I want to put down pine boards in our remodel. I love them - and I love the look of your floors. What type of subflooring did you have in the house? We currently have the newer 'particle board' subfloor. Will this be an issue?
