Antique Mirrored Door Hung

“Project Door”

My DIY Antique Mirrored Door is finally hung in the guest bedroom.  Yay!

If you have absolutely no clue what I am talking about, I shared my own step-by-step instructions on how I create DIY “antique mirrors.”  We bought this beauty to replace the original door to the guest room.

The original door was a bit boring in my opinion as we like things that are big and gaudy around the House on Winchester.

Installation Day

It was a bright sunshiny day.  I took the time to drink an extra 68 cups of coffee, as my mind swirled with all that I had to accomplish on my task list.  (Maybe it was the coffee that was swirling my mind)

I still had work to do on all of the goodies in our garage.  I had a sign that I needed to stencil by hand and several people to meet for sales.  Add this to the regular Saturday duties of finishing laundry, groceries, and adjusting the house to look somewhat presentable for the possibility of a “drop by” visitor.

After cup-of-coffee-number 43, the wifey mentioned she wanted to start “Project Door.”  (I snapped a quick picture of it leaning up against our bathroom vanity.)

Tackling Our To-Do Lists

We prefer to tackle the ten minute projects on our To-Do Lists first. By having these ten minute projects checked off from our agenda, it gives us confidence to complete the more difficult tasks ahead.

In my book, “Project Door” was going to be one of those quick ten minute projects.    After all, out of the 150 doors we’ve hung, 2 of those projects went smooth.  This door was going to be smooth sailing.

I asked Deb if she needed me to be her lovely assistant, because, I would gladly abandon the items on my own list.  However, she insisted I continue my own projects.  She said she would yell if she needed my help.  The word “yell” should have been my first clue.

I checked in with her a few times and observed several tools, along with wood shims, wood shavings and wood chips.  Three hours later, after hearing several new curse words that I believe she concocted herself, “Project Door” was still not complete.    After mumbling the words “nerve pill,” I revisited the wifey and asked if there was anything I could do.

Her face looked like this – ????

For the safety of our entire household, I suggested she take a break.

We had previous plans to help a friend at her beautiful country house, so what better timing than in the middle of an emotional collapse?  A tried and true cure for a nervous breakdown is being in nature and drinking a few beers.

Nature’s Cures – And a Few Beers

The smells and sounds are all different in nature.  Simply breathing the fresh outside air gives you a different type energy.  The sounds of birds calm your mind from a day’s worth of stress.  Nature’s beauty allows you to re-focus on your tasks at hand.

It’s a place where you find unexpected treasures.  Take for instance, these yummy treats that we found right outside of our friend’s back door.

Refreshed and Ready to Complete “Project Door”

It’s amazing what a walk with nature, a few beers, good friends, and a good night’s sleep can do for a person’s point of view… mainly Deb.

Nature gave her the right amount of encouragement and energy to complete “Project Door with a new day and a new view of the Antique Mirrored Door Project.  After a few minor adjustments of yesterday’s work, “Project Door” is complete. ✔️

Take a gander at this beauty…

What do you think?

Thank you so much following along with our adventures.  I would love to hear from you by commenting on this post, or on Facebook and Instagram.

And…….BUH BYE NOW – Said in a loud, high-pitched old lady’s voice, because how else could you say BUH BYE NOW?
