Best Idea for a Dog Crate

I’m not going to lie.  Between our painting-of-the-garage project, getting ready for our small town’s Christmas walk that we were a part of, and getting ready for the holidays, I’m exhausted.  ???? And, with Christmas coming soon, I can hardly rest.  We have a few clients that need projects completed before Christmas so we have been spreading ourselves pretty thin.

Incorporating a Dog Crate into Home Decor

I shared something over in my Instagram stories a few weeks back and had a lot of questions.  I, also, had people tell me what a terrific idea it was, so I thought I would share it with my bloggy friends, too!

You guys know how much I love my little Ivy Rose.  ????   If you missed her rescue story, you HAVE to read about it.   When our last dog passed, Deb said we could get another dog as long as we trained her not to get on the furniture.  I agreed.  I mean…..  ????????‍♀️ If she agreed to a dog, I could surely agree to following that one wish.

We knew Ivy was going to be a bigger dog and we wanted to crate train her.  (She’s 60-65 pounds)  Nothing new to you, but I’m a “home decor girl.”  I usually try to incorporate and disguise every day items into my home-decor in creative ways.  And, I’m sorry, but I don’t find a regular wire dog crate very home-decorish.  Especially one the size we would need for her.   Therefore, I didn’t want to decorate around a large dog crate in the middle of our living room.  ????????‍♀️  So, we had to come up with a creative idea to disguise her crate.

Best Idea for a Dog Crate

We have two closets on our stairway landing.  One is a walk-in linen closet.  The other one is where we hang all of our paint and work type clothes.  We came up with the best idea for a dog crate that I think you all will appreciate.  Especially if you are struggling with a giant dog crate sitting in the middle of your rooms.

The entire lower half of our “work clothes” closet wasn’t being used for storage.  And, it was just big enough for Ivy to spread out and be comfy.   So we ended up buying a walk-in metal baby gate and installing it between the inside trim work of that closet.  And by installing it in the inside of the trim, we can still close the closet door when it’s not in use.  The gate that we bought has sections that can be added for a bigger doorway, if we need to take it with us if Deb makes us move again.  ???? Just kidding.  (sort of)

Basically we call that closet Ivy’s bedroom.  ????  I added a dog bed and a million blankets to keep her warm.

Oh, and on a side note.   She gets tucked-in her bedroom and covered up every night.  And, I go through my entire routine of telling her, “You’re such a good little girl and I wuv you so much.”  And, every night, Deb does this.  ????????????‍♀️

So what do you think?

I think we accomplished what we set out to do – disguise a dog crate and came up with the best solution to do so.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog. You KNOW I pledge my love to each and every one of you.  Stop by on Facebook and Instagram to chat.

Buh bye now, said in an old lady’s voice who’s head is spinning around and around with all of the things she has to do before the holidays.  ????

This is the crate we ended up purchasing.
