Outside our Home

Create an Enchanting Campsite

Fourth of July is right around the corner and we know so many people who spend this holiday weekend camping with their family and friends. Deb and I don’t do a lot of camping, but we love creating outdoor spaces where we can sit back and relax. That is what we did with this enchanting camping oasis in the wooded area of our yard.

Create an Enchanting Campsite

When I think of camping, I think  of “glamping” or glamorous camping. I want my space to mirror the things and spaces in my life that bring me relaxation and peace. With that being said, we chose colors and styles that match the items we use in our own home.

Let’s say it together, we don’t have to use bright, loud colors or harsh, abrasive fabrics and textures for holiday, camping, or outdoor items!! We can enjoy neutral, quality items even when they are for a holiday or hobby that we only enjoy a few times a year.

A Tent

Even if you don’t plan to sleep in your tent overnight, it is great to have one when you go camping or to a weekend-long event. Two of our girls go camping with family every Fourth of July, but they only live a few minutes from where they camp. They may go home and sleep at night, but they still have a tent set up. They use the tent as a place to store all their things for the weekend, as a place to take a nap or for their kids to nap, a place to change into swimsuits, or for just a quiet place to get away.

I have been so excited to show you this Ozark Trail Bell Tent from Walmart. The best word for it is enchanting! It is 15’x15′ and can sleep 8 people. You can easily fit two air mattresses or cots in the tent. It is 106″ high so we can stand up in this also. It has water-resistant fabric, an A-shaped door, five mesh windows, a roof vent for airflow, a doormat for shoes, and built-in battery operated string lights. The string lights aren’t bright enough to irritate fellow campers. They add a soft glow, and now I can’t imagine a tent without string lights!

Best of all, this tent is only $149! That is amazing for the size, style, and features of this tent. I had one person message me and mention that their daughter spent more renting a tent for a weekend than this tent costs.

Seating

I grabbed two of these Ozark Trail Low Profile Reclining Backpack Glamping Chairs from Walmart for deb and I. These are a little bit different than your standard camping chair in that they are lower to the ground like a beach chair. If you like to soak up some sunshine, this is a great choice for you. It easily reclines, and because it is low-profile you can extend your legs out on the ground and relax.

This chair is incredibly comfortable. It has a headrest and doesn’t have the usual flimsy arm rests. What really drew us in, though, was the neutral color scheme, but we were pleasantly surprised to find backpack straps on the back of these chairs. Throw them on your back and transport them from your car to wherever you are going. That means no more shoving a bulky chair in a tiny bag and trying to hang it off of one shoulder.

This chair is currently on a rollback sale for only $49.98! Another reclining option is this Zero Gravity Camping Chair from Walmart. I love the beige and green color, the side table with a cupholder, and its only $75. Another great seating option is this Intex Inflatable Corner Couch! This takes me back to the blowup chairs of the 90s. All of our girls had them! This inflatable couch can hold up to 880 lbs., is waterproof, and has a soft flocked top surface. How perfect would this be propped in the corner of the bell tent!

Rug or Ground Cover

We picked up this Better Homes and Gardens Woven 5’x7′ Outdoor Rug to place outside our tent. It comes in a Terra Cotta coloration which includes faded oranges, beige, and brick colors. It isn’t the cheap, harsh texture that you expect of a lot of outdoor area rugs. This outdoor rug is great quality, so much so that you could put this in your home. Fold it up, throw it in the vehicle, and take it with you on your next adventure! It is less than $50.

Another great addition to your next outdoor event is this Ozark Trail Packable Blanket. It is 70″x60″ and has a water repellent finish. This is great for sitting on the ground for picnics and especially for those little kiddos who like to sit on the ground to play. Lay this out over the grass or sand, throw all the toys in the middle, and let them play comfortably.

Lighting

Lighting is everything for those warm Summer evenings. We picked up this 2-pack of TIKI Brand Honey Metal White Torches. They are 65″ tall and add a nice flickering light to a campsite or campfire right. I like to add these around the perimeter of a sitting area to help enclose the space with light at night.

Another top-seller for us is this LED Rechargeable Camping Lantern. It has a vintage style and could added to your everyday outdoor decor. It is also currently on sale for only $12.99.

We are really into solar-powered lights right now, which is why I think these Solar Powered Outdoor String Lights would be a great addition to a campsite! No need for electricity or batteries: these just soak up the sunshine. There is a 50-foot and 100-foot options. You could put these around your tent, camper, or hung from a nearby shade tree.

Tabletop

If you are camping or at an outdoor party, it is great to have a tabletop for preparing and serving food. Even if it is a small space, it will be very much put to use. This Ozark Trail Aluminum Roll-Top Camping Table sits low to the ground which goes perfect with our low-profile camping chairs. It has enough space for our drinks or meals, and the entire thing rolls away into a small bag for easy transportation.

The Foldable Side Table from Walmart is another great tabletop option that is great for quick-trips. For only $29.99, you have a small table that you can throw in the back of the vehicle and have with you anywhere you go.

This Folding Camping Kitchen Station has been another great seller for us in the past. Not only does it fold in half for easy storage, but it offers a lower storage area made of waterproof canvas and it has a foldable trash can.

Bed

If you are sleeping in a tent, there is no reason you should be sleeping on that hard ground. We are glamping, remember! Air mattresses have come a long way from the days when we did a lot of camping. Check out this Beautyrest 20″ Cushion Aire Quilted Air Bed Mattress from Walmart. I remember when you would go to sleep on your thin air mattress and wake up on the ground, but that won’t be the case with this 20″-thick mattress. It also has a removable pillow top for added comfort and a built-in pump for convenience.

You can now also sleep on folding bed cots. This 2-Pack of Folding Bed Cots features 3.3″ double-sided mattresses. You can use these for sleeping in the tent or lounging under a shade tree.
