Dining Room Mid-Way Through

OMG…..   I’ve had kind of an “off week.”  We’ve been very busy with a few jobs and then throw a holiday in there….with a million “neighborhood” fireworks – while Ivy paces back and forth inside the house – when we are trying to sleep at night.  It’s been a rough week.  UGH!  This holiday is so hard on animals.  Poor babies!

My current status:

Sitting outside in our gorgeous weather writing this post and enjoying the cool breeze underneath our patio umbrella.  Remember when we used to have large shade trees?  Remember Tree Boy ripped them away from us?  (I’m just teasing you, Tree Boy.  They all needed to come down.)

Anyway, we love basking in the shade… LOOKING at the sun. ????  The wifey and I are both lovers of huge shade trees.   For Deb, it is actually a requirement to have on the properties we live.  Which brings me to something exciting that I just have to share with you.

First off, a few weeks back, we had a landscaping gig.  We didn’t actually landscape, but we helped someone trim their trees and shrubs.  Their house is in town but their backyard felt like a home out in the country.  It has larger trees and lots of bigger shrubs and was all landscaped beautifully.  The minute we walked in the backyard a peace came over the both of us.

Deb has mentioned a few times that she wanted to buy a couple of BIG trees.  I ignored her. After seeing that yard last week, she has me convinced.  So today, we took a fun little trip to a big tree farm and got hooked up with Toby, our new Tree Boy.

We walked down rows and rows of big shade trees of different varieties.

Toby the Tree Boy talked about what would work and not work in our smaller yard.  We told him that we needed something to grow fast so we could enjoy it before we made it to the nursing home.  ????

With all of our concerns and the options that he gave us, we picked out a few different LARGE trees which will be delivered and planted in about two weeks.  Yes peeps, the above tree is mine, mine all mine.  Well, and Deb’s.  I can’t begin to tell you my happiness.  Does anyone else get this excited over some big-ass trees?  ????

Dining Room Mid-Way Through

So… Last week, I showed you the “before” pictures of the dining room.  Wasn’t it sad? You will have to click back to see them because quite frankly, once they are posted, I can’t bare to look at them again.  ????  In fact, I just don’t know if I could handle remodeling another house that was this bad again.

We ended up hiring someone to spray the ceilings and skim coat every room because of the damage over the years to the plaster.  We, then, painted all of the walls in the house Sherwin Williams – Pearly White.

Deb hung this antique crystal chandelier that we bought for $5.00 years ago. This will actually be the third house it’s hung in since we bought it.  We tend to carry these things with us.  ????

And, of course, we installed very inexpensive pine flooring that is through our entire house.

Up Next

You will have to wait for the final reveal because you know what tomorrow is already. It’s Five on Friday which is Deb’s turn.  And I just realized that I forgot to remind her.  ????

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Keep your fingers crossed the fireworks are over tonight and Deb doesn’t stroke out trying to come up with her five facts!  ????  It could be a long night.

Check us out on Facebook and Instagram if you like that type of thing!

I pledge my love to each and every one of you.

Buh Bye, now!

Danelle

  • I LOVE big ass trees and could spend hours wandering around the garden centers - it's my happy place - well that and the home improvement stores and you might as well throw in hobby lobby too - cannot wait to see the next posts and YES the Five on Friday is included. Thanks for keeping me entertained.

    • Those are all of my favorites, too. Forget shopping for clothes. I'm in paint clothes half of my life anyway.

  • I am in love with trees! Hope that is not too crazy to say! The one you chose is beautiful. I got a great chuckle out of your desire to enjoy it before you are in a nursing home! I know exactly what you mean. Thanks for the post. Have a good day.

    • hahaha Not crazy at all. That's exactly how I feel. I swear it's 10 degrees cooler in the shade. ????
