DIY Custom Bathroom Towel Rack

Do you remember our camper remodel?  I wanted it to be different from all the rest.  ????  So I added things like a little key holder that we hung by the door… and a little towel rack for the bathroom out of things I had laying around.  It’s my favorite thing to do.  We both love to create one-of-a-kind pieces for every day items.  When we started staying here at the cottage, we needed towel racks on each side of the vanity.  I decided to create one that is unique to us.  We’ve done this trick several times and I love it, because no one has one like it. Keep scrolling to see how we made this DIY bathroom towel rack.

DIY Bathroom Towel Rack

This is so simple that I don’t even like calling it a DIY.  It should really be called maybe a towel rack to inspire others.  ????  You can really use anything you have on hand.  If you don’t have these little antique medallions, use something else.  We have used old barn wood that we cut into the appropriate size, different little painted medallions that we had on hand, etc.

We found these wood medallions for a couple dollars at a garage sale or flea market a few years back.  I believe they were used in the trim around doorways and windows.  I knew we could figure out something to do with them.

If you don’t have antique hooks, you can grab new hooks at any hardware store.  They come in several different colors.  I prefer the old ones because it matches my antique style.

We attached the hook to the antique medallion.  And then we used trim screws to attach the towel rack directly to the wall in the bathroom.  These hooks have a bit of rust since they are old so I coated the wood and the metal with some sealer so that the rust won’t transfer to my towels.

Oh… and speaking of towels…   I wanted to mention these gorgeous Turkish towels from The Loomia.  They are my absolutely FAVORITE.  The Loomia has the most gorgeous items including dish towels, bedding, blankets, etc.  We use these just for CLEAN HAND drying.  We don’t remove our makeup with them.. only dry our hands when they are clean.  They are so soft and luxurious and I think they are beautiful.

I do have a code if you are interested.  Use code DANDD for money off of anything on her site.

What do you think of our DIY bathroom towel racks?  I absolutely love how they turned out and think they match my woods and whites theme perfectly.
